deanna, the sheriff tells me the community here in camden county holds their breath tonight, whie the man known as capt jim brincfield here's what the deputies say happened. captian jim used his burn barrel friday afternoon. from what they can tell, he may have used an accelerant for the burning. at some point the barrell exploded and caught brincfield on fire. when medics and deputies got to his home they found him in the shower cooling his burns. the sheriff says the fire burned 3/4 of his body paramedics flew him to sentara norfolk general hospital. a neighbor told me the entire family has been called to his side this afteroon. the sheriff says the entire communty knows captain jim well.

deanna? wind driven surge has receded in the village of ocracoke, but there are still pockets of water in the lower elevation areas. although water remains on some roadways, impacted in the village. emergency services personnel are reporting that at the (approximately two (2) feet of inundation). nc highway 12 is impassable at the new section of dune located on the hatteras end of the island. there is approximately a 600 foot section of dune that has been washed away and is now allowing the ocean to break across nc12. an ncdot crew is working to clear this area. emergency personnel are currently out conducting a windshield assessment, so more information may become available as they access areas that were isolated a police officer is in the hospital after someone hit him with their car. this happened in a town louis. police say officer steve sperber responded to a vehicle yesterday morning. while he was on the scene, another car hit him. only minutes into a utility pole. two men inside jumped

deanna and andrew joseph just filed a lawsuit against the fair, the sheriff's office and school district. it's been 2 years since their 14-year- old son, andrew was thrown out of student day at the fair - along with a hundred other kids, as some troublemakers stampeded through the midway. the suit blames the sheriff's office for a lack of training and kicking andrew out without reason, the district for giving out free tickets for not forseeing the danger with so many kids there, and the fair for failing to have enough surveillance, security and supervision to protect the students. since andrew's death the fair has made several changes. students who arrive after 6:00 must be supervised by an adult. the midway is wider to handle huge crowds, a command center is set up to monitor safety and this year they're adding metal detectors and more cameras. as florida tries to fight an outbreak there's concern about it spreading across the country. the summer olympics are just around the corner... and with many americans traveling to brazil for the games some are worried the zika outbreak could get
