mang alerted police that his vehicle has gps tracking. >> deb feyerick joins me live now. was the reaction of not only tsarnaev but the jurors when they saw those videos? >> reporter: well, the jurors were particularly riveted by some of the videos shown in relation to sean collier because they did see pictures of his autopsy photographs and how he was shot. so that was very moving. we saw a couple of the jurors appear to tear up on that. but when they saw this kind of video, it was so interesting because the testify of mang was so quiet, so understated and yet so powerful that people were actually on the edges of their seats. and we felt that way certainly in the gallergallery. you could tell a lot of the jurors were really paying attention. for the first time this week, it looked like tsarnaev was actually engaged. he initially seemed bored at the witness testimony of those who had been interested. but looking at himself, looking at his brother the night of the murder, at that car and then on the run when they knew it was unraveling, that was a different story. he leaned

my cnn colleague deb feyerick has been covering this trial. i'm also joined live by danny cevallos and joey jackson. deb, i want to begin with you. it is one thing to see some of these things on television. as i just mentioned to our viewers, they're edited and they're blurred. it is quite another to be an average member of the community who gets your jury summons and has to sit through material like that. how are things in court? what are these jurors going through? > reporter: it's incredible. they're going through what every single person in that court is going through. they are listening to graphic detail of the injuries that all these people suffered and as horrifying as the images are, to listen to the people and what they went through after this bombing is even more painful. people are bowing their heads, they're weeping openly. we're talking seasoned reporters, seasoned law enforcement. the jury, several of them are sort of wiping tears from their face. it clearly resonates with them. not just the testimony but the physical appearance

. >> deb feyerick with us now.this was not just a gripping but a sort of almost raising the blood pressure kind of week in court. what are we expecting? >> reporter: there's absolutely no question. people are on the edge of their seats listening. people are very emotional and seasoned law enforcement officers are weeping because it's just so powerful. next week we're expected to hear about the watertown shootout. that is when they've been identified because of this young man who so heroically got out of that car, possibly other attacks. there was a huge shootout because they were able to identify the suv that they were driving, they found them. we're expected to hear a lot of audio. we're expected to hear testimony from the police officer who basically took his car, rolled it down the street using it as protection and then hearing that dzhokhar actually running over his brother. when officers had him down on the ground trying. it was dramatic. >> dzhokhar has been responding to more of the testimony. we'll see how

deb has been living in this 2-unit building for more than 2 years and this is a building, an apartment that, until now, has been covered by rent control. her building previously had another unit and tenant living in it. about a year ago, the tenant left that unit and subsequent to that, the landlord removed the kitchen and bathroom and called that unit a storage space and claimed that the rent controlled laws that had been protecting these units no longer apply because this unit is now a single family home. had the second unit been legal, the landlord would have had to seek permission to merge the 2 units prior to withdrawing the second /tpraoupbt the market. and since the second unit was illegal, she was able to use this loophole to remove this unit from the loophole and to now say that this unit where this individual has been living for more than 10 years is no longer protected by rent control. by raising the rent 400 percent and demanding a five figure securing deposit, the landlord is effectively evicting this tenant. there's no way this individual can pay that amount. this is esse

now, they can run it in ways different than buying or selling the deb but almost all those ways are undesirablell, the real problem with the budget deficit usually isn't that it's a crisis. it's not a wolf at the door, it's termites in the basement. if i had to think about budget deficits and what they mean and what i've thought about them over the years i have to say i've changed my mind. initially, like most people, i tended to think of budget deficits -- again, budget deficits outside of times of recession, when they're good. budget deficits in normal times, people tend to think about as something that's going to blow us into inflation. the government spends too much takes in too little revenues. there's too much demand chasing too few goods. you get a big inflation. well, it turns out that's not normally what happens because if the federal reserve board does its thing right as you tend to get into inflation -- if you should because of a big budget deficit -- it'll tighten up interest rates. and it's been doing that off and on over the years. tighten up interest rates, and it won't let the g

. >> reporter: home for the past 10 years, now deb balinstad says she's forced to find a new place to live. >> that's why i'm packing already. i need to be ready. >> reporter: she received third- degree notice of the rent increase from her landlord's attorney. from $2,800 to $8,900 effective may 2015. >> i'm kind of sick to my stomach. i don't know there might be a word for feeling like it's just so, it's shocking. >> reporter: in order to stay, the 46-year-old will also have to pay a $12,000.500 security deposit. balinstad says she cannot afford the price increase. she works as an accupunturist for cancer patients. she says her landlord changed after the owner died and the house was then passed on to his daughter. the rent represents only a portion of the home. the entire property aapproximately 2/3 more of her current apartment will be available for miss balinsted to rent. >> it's an amazing rent increase. i've never heard of that before. >> reporter: san francisco realtor kevin ho is not involved in this case. he tells me the rent increase appears to be legal but he questions wheth

deb, what was the reaction when those videos were shown. they know the case. they have personal feelings about it because they live nearby. they saw this video for the first time today. >> reporter: they did. it was an incredibly emotional day in that courtroom because of this video and the images. you had people on the stand in their own words and pointing themselves out on the street where they lay and the seconds after that first bomb erupted at the scene of the finish line at the boston marathon. one woman was a senior in high school and she felt herself going increasingly cold. she knew she was dying. she was bleeding out. another woman lost both her legs. that one also in court. a second woman lost both of her legs. a third woman describe how she saw her bones and skin laying on the sidewalk next to her. she reached for her son but her hand was shattered a all she could hear was her 5-year-old screaming mommy. it was incredible testimony that gave a voice to the carnage and pictures we have seen coming out of that attack on the boston marathon. >> thank

deb, if we could just begin with you, get me up to speed on today. great that you can come out of the courtroom. we don't have cameras in there. it's a federal court proceeding. how are the jurors reacting to what they're hearing today? >> reporter: it's very interesting. the way the jury reacted to that video you just showed, they saw a man who apparently didn't care what was going on. he was more interested in the milk he was buying. today they saw a note he scrawled in the boat where he was hiding. that text was read by one of the people who found it. it was covered with bullet. there were bullet holes that marked it. he was telling us his brother got into paradise, according to the note. and he said, god has a plan for each of us and perhaps the plan for him was to stay behind to shed some light. he's quoting saying that, you're fighting me who looks into the barrel of a gun and sees heaven, how can you compete with that? very strong testimony supporting the motive, the reason why dzhokhar tsarnaev may have done this. but tsarnaev's lawyers had a
