a woman named deb bra sent us hepy. it says a debt has been referred to the u.s.r payment, in this case her pension, will be withheld to pay that debt. deborah told us she owes the state money but she's on a payment plan and in good standing. she wasn't sure why she would receive this letter. she said when she contacted the maryland'sol compr's office they didn't know anything about the letter. so she called news4 responds we got right to work and we were able t get some answers. so the maryland comptroller's office told us theyno didn't the letter had been sent out until we contacted them. ey say federal pensions will not be garnished. they say a miscommunication between the comptroller's office and the treasury deparent is to blame for those letters going out. some states do choose to garnish federal pensions but maryland will not do this. if you are a federal retiree in maryland and you received one of these letters, money will not be withheld from your pension but you need c totact the state to come up with a plan to pay off your debt. back to you. >>> all rig
