we've been working with cities and schools in berkley and we have a couple here, cheryl bus, deb mccoy and the planning staff has been working. so we have spent the past year in three schools, malcolm x academy and monroe and i'll till in just a minute more about what we've been doing. we're fo going to talk about the importance of the engagement and figure out a plan to go forward. so just to step back for a second, why is it important and why should we be talking to kids? as part of the process to engage our community, this is about 15 positio15%of our population ovef you think about the sheer numbers of people. when you think about the long-range planning issues, sea level rise, things that are the future, those are the folks experiencing that and civic engagement and how do you introduce that to kid young and diversifyindiversifying our prod they understand what is planning and how to be a planner when they grow up. so in the past, we've done some things well and not so well when we've tried to engage kids. i thought you a table on the side with crayons and kids are engaged. i thin
