that is debbie dingell. she has represented the 12th district. d her husband, john dingell. you have a long history in michigan politics. thank you for coming. tell me what you think about the morning after of the day of the democratic debate in flint, and last night and the democratic primary. you are a big hillary clinton supporter. understanding where you are coming from, what do you see? rep. dingell: i think the numbers in the polls are not reflective. i think bernie has worked the state intensely. that has gotten people excited. i'm not going to be surprised if the polls tighten. i think hillary clinton will win tomorrow when the voting occurs, but he has been working the state hard and is getting a lot of people excited. i think you will see that. donald trump is going to win the republican primary. john: it seems to me that if there is any state that is tailor-made for the sanders message, this should be that state. the polls have shown him back by 25 points. there are a few showing him getting a little closer. i am a little surprised that

correctly pointed out, both by my colleagues from new jersey and from florida, i will go back to what debbie dingell said earlier, she didn't blame anybody for the tragedy that's occurred in flint. she said we've just got to deal with it. i think that's what this budget attempts to do. it says, look, there's plenty of blame to go around. some on behalf of democrats, some on behalf of republicans. but we are where we are with regard to a real financial pickle. as you look at demographics as baby boomers march their way toward retirement, we have gone to roughly 4 1/2 workers for every medicare retiree. to about three currently. we're well on our way to two. in short, the math just does not work. if you look from a budgetary standpoint 80% of the projected federal deficit moving forward is going to come from medicare. you can't grow something at 5.5% or 6% while the underlying economy is growing at a lower number and have good things happen. i have a whole host of other statistics but i seat chairman leaning forward. i guess that means something. i would yield back whatever remaining time i might have

i will say, both the clinton campaign and the sanders' campaign, and i was talking to debby d ybie dingell, the congresswoman from the detroit area, who's a longtime watcher of michigan politics, they all say that the numbers are going to be closer than what many of these polls, including ours, have been showing, this double-digit gap between sanders and clinton. and the sanders' campaign is really counting on it. they know that if they don't do well in michigan, it's going to be really hard for them to argue going into march 15th that they're going to be able to win in places like ohio and illinois, and some of the other states that would actually give him a shot at being seen as a real contender, instead of just kind of a cause or the leader of a movement. the they're going to prove that he can actually take her on for this nomination. the math is already difficult for them, but if they don't do well in michigan, followed by these other states next week, it's going to be all but impossible. >> that's for sure. and i think they know it. i thought it was interesting, maybe it was a slip of
