we're talking about politico and how they -- i'll read the headlines -- "democrats turn on debbie wasserman schultz." that article just coming out, describes how sources, according to politico are aiming at the chairwoman, debbie wasserman schultz, saying she has flubbed, criticizing the white house in comparing the tea party to wife beaters. they say those are reasons she might be out. what are you hearing in d.c.? >> well, i'm hearing a lot of dissatisfaction, but i think to have to factor in a couple other contexts. number one, right now the democrats are just dissatisfied with themselves, and that always means, particularly in washington, that there's going to be some intramural fighting. >> right. >> the democrats stand to lose the senate right now, so there's going to be a lot of recriminations before and after the election, if, in fact, that happens. secondly, i've often wondered how it is that a party chairperson, which is a full-time job, could also hold another office. certainly, this is not the only case, the only time that this has happened, but it would seem to me that she is a congres

and that's the most important thing in this race, not what debbie wasserman schultz says. do you think? >> what debbie wasserman-schultz has done is express regret. i think scott walker should accept the quasi-apology and go on to actually talk about his record. i think he'd be very happy to talk about his record. he's created a situation at least in the state that has led to more than 100,000 new jobs, they've brought down the unemployment rate, they've erased a structural deficit while relieving the tax burden on all wisconsin taxpayers. he's really put the state on a good fiscal path after the terrible train wreck that was left by previous administration of which mary burke, his opponent, was a part. i think he'd be delighted to talk about his record. debbie wasserman schultz by using that graphic, totally inappropriate imagery, was trying to, i think, detract from a legitimate debate about what governor walker has accomplished in that state. martha: well, in his response, governor walker has said that not only was it outrageous towards me, somebody who actually helped b

what people are doing is they're grabbing us by the hair and pulling us back. >> debbie wasserman schultzter apologized for those comments about wisconsin's governor. she's the subject of a very tough piece in politico saying the democrats and republicans have lost confidence in her. when you have anecdotes like wasserman schultz insisting that her wardrobe be paid for, which she denies -- >> i think this is partly triggered by that comment she made about scott walker which truly was, even with the low bar of political rhetoric was really, really nasty. and i think undermined what is supposed to be her strength, which is to appeal to women voters. it turns that into something that worked for scott walker. i think that's where some of this is coming from. it happened every couple of years, that people get upset with debbie wasserman-schultz. we're getting rid of a woman in the dnc doesn't help that narrative. did this have a whiff of the white house or her critics using politico? >> there are a lot of critics and they all willingly cooperated. i think it was nine pages long. it was a hit p

stand up for us and say i stand with the victims of domestic violence and i stand against debbie wasserman schultz'swhat did you think after hearing her apology, the statement that i began with? >> it's not an apology! an apology means saying you're sorry, and debbie wasserman schultz not only did not do that, but she's certainly not encouraging mary burke to come out and apologize or denounce her remarks, as she should. governor scott walker has a sterling record on women's issues. but on top of that, on helping victims of domestic violence. this last year alone, you take a look at the commitment he has made to wisconsin women -- ending human trafficking with a bill that he signed, cracking down on restraining order loopholes, and on top of that, spending about $15 million in order to further protect and expand services for victims of domestic violence. here is a governor who cares deeply about victims of domestic abuse. and apparently, mary burke won't stand with the women of wisconsin and denounce these remarks. >> well, the clock is ticking on those remarks, if they are yet to come. but you know
