deborah hersman. the plane was flying far slower than it should have been. joining me is robertaguer, a former nbc correspondent who spent years covering airline accidents. robert, let's cut to the quick here. why was this plane traveling so, as it turned out, fatally slowly? >> that's the $64,000 question. that's what investigators have got to try to find out. it's incredible, the slow speed. the target, the speed that they're supposed to slow down to just before touchdown was 157 miles an hour. now translating that, some might have heard it in knots but i like the miles an hour. 157 is what they're supposed to be going at touchdown, minimum speed. already that plane had got that slow a half minute out from the runway. why they let it get that slow, they let it slow down then for another 30 seconds after it reached that speed, got down to less than 120 miles an hour. so imagine this great big 777 aircraft, big, heavy aircraft like that, going 120 miles an hour. it's inevitable it was going to stall. >> here's another $64,000 question, this pilot, though he is being accused of b

robert fitzpatrick wrote a book about trying to stop bulger. this case has been full of fireworks. deborah feyerick has been live. bring us up to date on this case. >> his lawyers have asked that the jury be sequestered during deliberations. prosecutors are against it and the judge is going to have to decide that. it's still not clear whether bulger is going to testify. they are going to testify over the period of two witnesses. key among them, a mother whose daughter was killed by bulger and her ex-boyfriend. she's going to be called to testify that her daughter was being sexually molested by the man and therefore he had a greater motive to kill her. also on this list of witnesses is a crime associate who is likely to take the fifth. the reason is that he was actually implicated in one of the murders. now, bulger's team is really trying hard to refute the notion that he was an fbi informant. the cover of that book, that man is on the stand. he's testifying today and he was brought in basically to shut him down. he said he got a lot of pushback from fbi headquarters in washington, d.c., an
