welcome back everybody. homily wood kicks off award season sunday with the golden globes. will you be watching? but it won't be the frivolity. because hollywood has been serious note under a dark cloud ever since harvey weinstein and the me too movement so kevin is out in la this morning with more hahn how the tone of the show could change. and part two of his predictions. kev, good morning. let's start with the tone. how does seth myers plan to tackle this? good morning to you, allison and steve and maureen and holly. i think that this particular show is going to be interesting much it is the first big show since all of the sexual assault and harassment allegations. so many myers has spoken about the fact that he will be tackling this subject. we know that the women will be wearing all black in protest, and he is fully supportive of that, um, the big question will be the tone of how he approaches the subject matter. we know myers is a comedian but myers' wife actually a sexual assault attorney. with sexual assault type of cases and so he says in an interviews in hollywood reporter that he's actually had discussions with his wife about this for a long time. the idea that this is just coming out now is, you know, that's the reason why it's such a huge story and it's such a big deal because, you know, people weren't talking about it for so long. so i'm interested to see the tone of how he handles it considering it's very close to him as well considering what his wife does for work. it will be interesting to see what he does. >> we resident looking to that and kev, we've talk about the two major things before was this comedy best picture and then also drama best picture, but we want briefly talk about and that get to the actors and actresses. >> yeah. the show is going to be on sunday night as i mentioned seth myers hosting. we'll start off with best picture musical comedy. i can't believe get out is in this category. but i do think it will win in this category it has a lot buzz going forward one of the best films of the year. when a film gets summit flood category the studios decide that. i don't know what they're thinking was, but my assumption would be that it would compete better in this -- this particular category. movie had some comedy in it but we all know that it was more of a thriller an horror film. so my pick for that is best picture musical comedy will be get out and just know that the best thing about this year allison is there's absolutely no front runners in a lot of these bigger categories. there's so many people who could win these awards and so many unless that could also be front runners. so it actually makes it more exciting but a little bit more difficult on my end to predict so just know that it could be -- it also could be the disaster artists on sunday night. >> who should win? >> who do you think will win and who should win? >> for musical comedy get out no question. i mean that is my deaf pick torque drama, best picture drama, this category, again, wide open. could be the shape of water, it could be cal mow about your name, it could be the post, i'm going to stick with dunkirk only because of what that movie did for film making. i don't know if that has a chance to win. it is a massive frontrunner just in a lot of different cate categories. that's my will win should win but, again, you might hear shape of water you might hear call mow by your name. it's going to be all up in the air sunday night. >> hey, kev? >> yeah. >> i know that it's so weird about getting out what you're saying so last year la had a land obviously won which was musical and very appropriate for that category. but i just look up the three years before that, the winners in that same category were the martian, the grand pest hotel and american hustle. so it doesn't really seem like any of these movies fit into this category. >> yeah. budapest hotel i comedy. martian had some funny moment but not really. and i think get out is probably the crazy yesterday one to be in musical com dough category much that's my concern when the voters are looking at the ballot and looking at musical or comedy and they see get out, is there going to be -- how does that factor into the award there? so i don't know. get out will get nominated for best pictures at the oscars. it doesn't make the difference. the golden globes in my opinion are irrelevant. >> in the studio thanks the one who does it. let's move on to drama here. who will win, who should win? >> actor in a drama i think this is definitely definitely going to go gary ole man two months ago i would have said 100% gary ole man darkest hour. he's my will win, should win. i don't think the performance of his career he'll be winning for his career. but about a month or ohing a things started to shift. by your name is now also considered a frontrunner and he's this young kid amazing in the film and i'm interested to see what happens i think he has a lot of esteem right now and that name might get called on sunday night. i'm going to stick with my guns on gary old man he's amazing in the roles winston churchill and darkest hour. that's my will will should win. but you also might here timothy's name sunday night. >> best actress drama, should win, will win? >> this might be the only category that i'm 100% sure on. pretty sure frances mc dorman will take this and she's incredible in three billboards outside of he beening missouri. she play as mother whose caught is killed. she feels the police are not doing their jobs so she buys these billboards. essentially challenging the police officers to find the killer of her daughter. i think she's going to win much she's my will lynn should win. >> best actress comedy musical >> i think this is going to go to margot robbie. margot robbie is so great in this movie. if you haven't seen this the tanya harding story. >> i saw it. she was excellent. and you know what, after all these years i feel like tanya harding is like now exonerated and will be after the public sees this movie. >> i agree. the movie really kind of paints a very -- you feel for her. movies clearly change things. there's fictional things added in to fit into a story line, but what i gathered from the film was that, you know, while she had some type of involvement, she -- you know she didn't physically do anything but again when you see the movie you'll understand what allison and i are talking about. she's amazing. >> she's amazing. >> she learned to that ice skating and the only scenes they really had to do the face replacement when she was doing the triple axle and some of the harder state skating stuff. that's actually her a lot of ti >> this scene we're watching when she's putting her makeup on and has to go out there with that face. margot robbie i didn't underestimate her but aft this especially so much respect for her. last one best actor in comedy musical who will win, who should win. >> franco will take this for the disaster artist. he plays tommy war saw. the room of an actor winning award for playing that part will be a big story. i think that daniel a call lee deserve this symptoms were really severe and for me, i didn't realize it was gluten allergy the whole time. once i took the food out of my system, i started to heal i got better. i started to feel better ins instantly i recognized certain foods aren't just meant for everybody when you have this whole cookie cutter approach it doesn't work. you have to be able to look at the individual as a person. see >> it was awesome. if you actually go to like diddy and khaled's like insta stories and snaps they were watching the show to tet found some sweet or something like that in the hotel where the interviews were, and they were -- they were all watching the show life. it was crazy. but the show is really cool couldn't september it's a lot different than any kind of music show i've seen before. i will say it takes a second to kind of fully grasp the concept. i mean the concept s you have these panelists, khaled, trainor, diddy and then you have a record exec named charlie walk and they're on a panel, and their job is to essentially gauged of gauge whether or not a person is worthy of battling out these other four couldn't kess taints. what they do, they have four rising stars who have definitive seats on stage. and they had somehow i was digged for the show and now they're locked into these seats. when these new contestants come out on stage to perform they perform for the judges. the panel themselves. if they approve them, they then can battle someone in one of the seats and if they battle them and they win, they take that seat. it's kind of a cool concept. a little bit convolute first episode, it makes perfect sense, and i actually loved the first episode i thought it was very well done i spoke to khaled and dj khaled and meghan trainor but also diddy and growing up i mean i had the no way out album diddy was huge part of my musical up bringing but spicily an album called ready to die he produced with biggy called song on there called give me the loot one of my favorite songs ever and i wanted to talk to him about working biggy first and then we get into the show. watch this. >> i ran into you in the lobby one of in favorite all bums of all time ready to die by biggy. give me the loot was one of the great testify song. i talk to you about the tract when he did the two voices when you were in the studio doing that song with hem, what do you remember about those albums ready to die and life after death? >> um, i think when you watch the first episode, um, one of the young men i think he had a little bit too much confidence. you can never have too much confidence but in this situation i think his confidence out weighed his focus. you know what i'm saying? sometimes it's good to be confident but it's more important to stay focused. >> there's a few people on the show that are a little too confident, and we were just l like, you'll hear khaled be like, be humble. like he sits them down right away. don't do that. because it shows kind of like we have to work with him at the end of the day, and i don't want to work with someone whose just best. >> i mean this show is out the gate greatness. you know, sometimes, you know, we skip the build up, like, let's go. this is your opportunity. this is your opportunity to change your life, and at the same time when you're four you're already sitting in your seat. you could be challenged right there. but the both of them are great when they get challenged so even for me like a tough situation bought what i like about it when it goats that situation the people make that decision. >> you mentioned the panel you were 21 pounds down on weight watchers. what's the goal. >> my goal is just to be hea healthy. you know what i'm saying? [ laughter ] >> is the crowd cam deerent night tonight depending what part of the cun you're in. if i'm in dallas and my early show could be completely different than my late show. it's just so bizarre. every single show is different, and you never know what you're going to get that's why i think as comedian you have to read the crowd and listen to them. >> how much different when you get the immediate feedback there and you've been doing a loft writing talk about comedy central to type of thing, too. you've been doing a lot of writing over the years as well. is that harder sometimes because you don't get those immediate laughs and you write something and you're just like i think there's going to be laugh here? i hope there's going to be a laugh here. >> especially when you're writing for the roast, you know, and you're writing jokes at your computer and then we put them all into a bank and then we have to read our own in front of the writers room and some of these guys have written on the simpson's and, you know, they h
