this memo we have seen from defra is looking at the uk's readiness to deal with the no deal exit.l exit. if there were no deal brexit, the rules in terms of access to fishing waters would change. fishing vessels from eu countries wouldn't be coming closer than 200 nautical miles off the coast or at the midway point between the two countries. will the uk be able to monitor that and enforce it? in this memo which it seems was sent in error to the bbc it discusses the fact that at this stage there is a lot of uncertainty about the sufficiency of enforcement in no deal because we have 12 vessels that need to monitor a space three times the size of the surface area of the uk. we've heard from a government spokesperson in reaction to what we've seen this evening. they are saying the uk will be leaving the eu on october 31 and there is a sufficient number of ships and expertise on hand to deal with any scenario and patrol the uk's waters but i've been speaking to the former security minister and formerfirst to the former security minister and former first sea lured to the former security
