>> welcome to dover, delaware. on to dover, delaware. on behalf of comcast corporation, for the next hour we will host the book fair at the capital of delaware. .. political thought of john dickinson as it was rooted in quicker constitutions of 30. it came out of my interest in early american political theory and religion. i started out studying quakers and quakerism in the colonial period and when i got to the revolution his name kept coming up. when i try to research and i couldn't find anything about him, or very little, and what was there was very conflicted and nobody seemed to be able to understand his actions. very few people have heard of him today. that's in stark contrast to his reputation during his lifetime. in the years immediately leading up to the revolution, his name was better known than washington or franklin. john dickinson wrote many of america's first state papers, and many of the highest level documents, policy documents, constitution, legislation. but he also wrote many more things for ordinary american people. and

this is a book about delaware, delaware's role in world war ii.ctically everybody who served in that war in any capacity is in here someplace. these are just a cross-section of some of the books that the delaware heritage press has done over the years. we have relatively limited funding, and we do a lot of this ourselves. i'm the person that lays out and designs the books, and then we have them printed as cheaply as possible, and we try to sell them as cheap hi as possible. cheaply as possible. these books are important because they represent as complete a cross-section as we're able to do of delaware's long history and heritage. we try to touch on as many of our communities as possible. we have a pamphlet about the italian-american history of delaware, we have books about the black heritage, we have a book about delaware's unusual boundaries called east of the mason dixon line, we have all sorts of other books that touch on various aspects of our history and culture. and we try to make these available to citizens of the state and others who are i

he said down in a recent visit to dover, delaware. his book "hearts away, bombs away" details the career of his father, world war ii bombardier and a love story between his parents throughout the war. >> i was starting to review my father's military background. like a lot of world war ii veterans he served in the war, came home and never thought much about the war. i knew little about his accomplishments or his crew's accomplishments until after he passed away in 2003, some of the original crew members began to share with me some of the excitement that occurred in the skies over germany and occupied europe. i began to research my dad's mission and their missions, i was very interested in finding out more about it and i remember as the youngster my parents saved their correspondence from the war years and was tucked away in my sister's attic. i retrieved them and read every single one of them thinking of the story but what i discovered was he couldn't write about emissions. that would have been a security breach but he wrote about life

the delaware seem to my check louis. defined in hear some beautiful illustrations of this particular print that he had for delaware. he was the famous diller portrait artist and artist in general for dollar. his works are displayed throughout many state buildings. and this list of hair he has limited edition of materials that he this going to be -- that he painted. this document. it is a beautiful surveyor's guide as it relates to one of our cities in delaware, nanticoke city. and it was a relationship, there were measuring property lines for the train service here, but what you will notice here is the beautiful coloring that they have here and have this particular book was an actual level of a map at the time. so this is used a lot by individuals that our research in property, homes that someone had been a particular area. so this is one of the gems of our collection. and of particular interest is the state bible. we may be the only state -- i cannot say that for certainty -- that has a state bible. this bubble was prin

they first went to the hudson highlands, but 150 years later, it went to the delaware highlands. really diverted the water that normally went to philadelphia to new york city. i don't think they anticipated that. narrator: the majority of new york city's drinking water comes from watersheds in upstate new york. a watershed is the area of land where water from rain or snow melt drains downhill into a body of water. mountains act as a funnel to feed rivers and lakes. and in this case, reservoirs. in the new york city system, water is collected and stored in 19 reservoirs, which can hold more than a year's supply -- over 580 billion gallons of water. almost all of the system is fed by gravity, without the use of energy-consuming pumps. valves open to regulate the flow into the 85-mile-long delaware aqueduct -- the longest tunnel in the world. at hillview reservoir... the water is partitioned into another giant tunnel system. where it travels deep below manhattan. the pressure built up by gravity from the mountains pushes the water upwards toward the surface through vertical shafts.

i'm veronica delaware la cruise. this morning there is word it's happened again. this time in alaska. officials say all ten people were killed on board. the plane crashed just after takeoff around 11:00 a.m. local. no word on a cause, but it's the second small plane crash in alaska since june 28th in a states where air traffic is frequent. a team from the ntsb is scheduled to arrive this afternoon. >>> now to the crash of flight 214 in san francisco. this morning we're the getting our first look inside the jumbo jet. you can see what's left with many seats becoming mangled on impact. the voice recorder has been recovered. they are looking closely at the plane's actions shortly before the crash when i pilots appeared to abort the landing. >> a go-around occurred 1.5 seconds before impact. >> the crash tore the plane into two main pieces with its tail separating from the rest of the plane. it's still unclear what role, if any, the pilot played 234 the accident. it was the pilot's training flight in a 777 but that he had thousands of hours of experience and had lande
