delaware. now, you see these shades of lighter purple, that's a winter storm warning for south jersey, philadelphia and the lower pennsylvania suburbs. that means we'll see heavy snow and gusty winds, just not quite as windy as you'll see along the shore. and then the lighter purple, that's where we have winter weather advisories. you will get snow but you're not going to see the brunt of it. it is out here along the shore that we are watching those huge totals pile up. possibly some pockets could exceed as much as a foot of snow. nothing showing up on doppler radar right now. your neighborhoods are all clear. enjoy, as keith said, because this is the calm before the storm. we actually have two things coming in. a clipper coming out of the great lakes will meet up with this big storm coming up the coast. together they combine. the intensity falls so quickly in that storm, we call it a meteorological bomb. out in the center of the atlantic is where we'll see the hurricane-force winds. you'll see

really diving into one of our neighborhoods and that would be the delaware beaches, southern delaware and the jersey shore. really it's about the coloration of our contour here. this is showing where the steadier snow is. the deeper the blue the heavier the snow and it's right where we're expecting it against the shoreline. with those strong winds coming from the north, that worry of low visibility and blowing snow. temperatures stay below freezing all day. this is at 11:00 a.m. and it's heavier against parts of the jersey shore. once we get to 1:30 in the afternoon, farther to the north and west, dover starting to see a lighter snow but it's still fairly steady against the shoreline. it starts to fall apart and move out by this evening, but here's the problem. with those very cold roadways and cold conditions today, everything sticks in stacks and then can blow around as we do expect those gusts to get stronger into the afternoon. in fact, gusts upwards of 50 miles per hour are certainly possible at the shore. that is why a blizzard warning has been put in place. this is shaded in re

we are on the delaware county, chester county border. parkside is one of the towns that's right around here. and one of the reasons why we're here is we want to show you the roads. check this out. as you can see, this is not exactly like route one, one of the main roads around delaware county. but certainly is not a side road either. like we've been talking about all morning long, even though there isn't six or 10 inches every snow, the snow that is on the roads is not going anywhere. and as you can see, as people kind of come around turns, and try to make their way even up the slightest amount of a hill, if you don't have a four wheel drive, if you don't have great traction, you're not going to be able to work out so well probably one of the bigger reasons why a lot of the school district, day cares, other place that is open super early in the morning have either delayed starts this morning, or they've canceled the day altogether. so, this is delaware county, chester county, border, you need to tell us on twitter where you want us to go

delaware county. i can tell you, that we talk about this a little while ago. delaware county is one of the counties, their district, you know, talking about ridley, garnet valley, those district, they don't make the decision about whether or not to close until the morning of. and so, if you look at these roads, this is not a main road. it is not a side road. it is kind of somewhere inbetween. i can tell you, it is cents a bit slick. onto our left, we do see those are actually big trucks, i thought they might have been school buses, oil trucks. so, oil trucks are out there. the snow plows are out here, there are trucks that are, you know, making sure that these parking lots are clear. so as we take a right, onto a road, that says no outlet, bad movement, we're going to show you a little bit about what it looks like. so obviously you can see here that the roads, the side roads in particular, we're in upper darby, still definitely covered with snow. the other thing that makes driving around a little tric

creating slow speeds on i-95 southbound in delaware county. this delay is longer than the last time i showed you from approaching the blue route to past the blue route where the accident blocks the right lane. at one point it was blocking all lanes. that's why there were slow speeds. over all no problems on the majors. temperatures are below freezing, there are a few morning accidents, be careful as you head out. no widespread issues. we're in delaware county, checking i-95, we can see right here moving okay heading toward the accident scene you slow up toward the commodore barry bridge. route 42 we're watching traffic and penndot is going in and out through the area. now we're in black, but things are okay on on 42. >> a driver struck an 80-year-old woman in front of a delaware county emergency entrance at 1:00 a.m. the vehicle that hit the woman remained on the scene. pennsylvania state police are investigating and not released the victim's condition. >>> a pizza delivery driver is set you mean on shot during an attempted robbery. it happene

behind me this is the ice jam that exists in the delaware river. what you see lit up behind me is what exists between here, yardly, bucks county and across the river into trenton county. water from the river that cannot flow down stream because of the ice jack is overflowing onto banks. and in this case we look further right and onto river road in yardly. they tell me the good news is this intersection east ferry road and river road is right now the only intersection they have closed. let's take a look at some video. we want to show you one of the more disturbing sites that we've seen from this ice jam is people walking on the chunks of ice, trusting that this ice is strong enough and will not fall into the water. well, we also saw a deer get caught in this mess. police warn from walking on the ice in any capacity. some chunks are moving and can collapse into the river below. it still remains below flood stage, so that is good thing. back out here live i can tell you talking to people who live in this area they instantly recall a similar ice jam ba
