the delaware bay is 71 degrees. those ocean temperatures are critical to forecasting at the shore.ore significant cloud cover over the great lakes. that's going to take quite awhile to get here. we have a dry night tonight. mild in the evening. it does not cool off as much as it did last night. we're talking about 59 degrees in the lehigh valley by 6:00 a.m. where it was closer to 50 this morning. so that's a considerable difference. we're going to start off from a higher plane ask then with the sunshine tomorrow, it's going to get hotter. some folks may get pretty close to 90 degree mark and a lot of us will get to 90 degrees on friday. and i'll have more of us getting to the 90 degree mark on saturday. and maybe even sunday too. we'll get into those specific numbers and talk about the rain chances when they are the highest in a few minutes. >>> here's a look now at the other stoiries we're following. we start in delaware county where the state choice campaign is holding a vigil tonight in media. they are pushing for a fair and balanced budget in the state. attendees are asking le

first let's focus on the storms through millville, cumberland county extenting across the bay into central delaware. this is a severe cell right here moving toward the northeast. all of this moving eastward as you see it in south jersey. so some strong to severe storms moving east at about 50 miles an hour. they will be in egg harbor by 6:19. pleasantville by 6:24 and in atlantic city with torrential downpours by 6:32. so just minutes away. i want to zoom in on cumberland county. bridgeton, cedarville, millvil millville, laurel lakes this is moving toward vineland and in the northeast with frequent lightning and we're talking about two to 3-inches of rain an hour. severe storm threat focus through central and southern delaware and into cumberland county. severe thunderstorm warning continues through the hour. we have a watch for all of south jersey and delaware until 8:00 o'clock tonight. that watch has been loud to expire to the north and west of the philadelphia. no longer severe threat but heff lee vain expected this evening there. as we go hour by hour, we'll see the severe storms move into jer

they were heavier an hour ago and now they are weakening toward delaware bay. couple others head toward egg harbor township and the jersey shore. these showers coming into potsville. as you can see, they just keep moving toward the city, toward the shore. and you have to bring the rain gear with you during the evening. by tomorrow morning, we're just left with the clouds and not the showers. so at least that's a change. but it's still unseasonably chilly. 59 degrees in mount holly. 64 degrees in coatesville. close to 70 in delaware. i'll tell you when it's going to get to the 90s, coming up. >> now you're talking my language. >>> tonight a family is suing the city of philadelphia and three of its officers alleging they shot and killed a a man for no reason. the lawsuit says police stripped richard feretti of his right when is they shot and killed him last year. his family's lawyers say he was look i looking tr a parking spot when officers pulled up in it front of him. but officers ended up shooting him three times while driving away. we reached out to the mayor

damaged and uprooted in the collings wind area, the john shoal buoy reported 55-mile an hour on the delaware bay. there's powerful straight lined winds 50 to 60 miles per hour. on top of that we had a tremendous amount of rain that has fallen in a short period of time. the national weather service issued a flash flood warning for philadelphia county and lower montgomery and bucks county, extreme northwestern burlington county and mercer county until 11:30 a.m. the problem we've had quite a bit of rain in the viewing area over the last week or so. the ground is saturated, now we're picking up two to three additional inches. the line of storms is out here, but the rain has to run off to tributaries, if you live in an area that's prone to flooding or live near a small creek or stream you'll see flooding. new jersey coast from cape may all the way into areas of south of sandy hook, it's the belmawr point pleasant beach area, the scawl line racing off -- squall line racing off to the east, we're seeing straight line winds 50 to 60 miles per hour. a couple of locations over top of belmawr right now. o

all the way down into central portions of kent county in the state of delaware, pushing over the delaware bay region. the severe aspect of the storm is over gloucester and camden counties. we have another tornadoes warning up for extreme portions of mercer county even western monmouth county in central portions of new jersey until 7:15. that is a quick-moving storm cell that is pulling away from the viewing area. turnersville seeing heavy rain at this point, maybe a little bit of wind, but the main event is right here with the front end of the line. what we call a squall line, the leading edge of cooler air, the downdraft of a thunderstorm. think about when you watched a thunderstorm on the porch, you hear the thunders in the dance, after hearing the thunder you feel that gush of cooler air. this is what a gust front what we call a squall line. it's very powerful because of the instability that developed with this. we're seeing winds anywhere from 40 to 6 ho miles per -- 40 to 6r hour. glassboro, pitman, downpours being produced. the heaviest is pulling out of berlin. this cell east of willia

delaware. you see almost hitting dover. over the bay into south jersey, all right cutting through areas like middletown. smyrna at 5:30. and areas like -- right around 6:00, some of that heaviest rain should kip the bay. we're looking at these lines holding together. this is a powerful cold front moving through. in some areas temperatures have dropped 20 degrees. the pink that you see respect that's a severe thunderstorm watch across the entice viewing zone, because anywhere could see that storm pop. but look at the area in yellow. right now in parts of philadelphia county and through to south jersey, we have that yellow shaded area under a warning. that means severe thunderstorms are happening form the same deal over parts of delaware, it's happening and will be happening as we progress through the next half hour to hour. let's look at the temperature gradient. as i mentioned, a huge difference. this temperature an hour ago was 89, now it's 73. look at millville, 83, and atlantic city the same. the cold air will continue moving along t
