[applause] here is the thing. you would think that we would have an office of emerging technology or some level of technology something lie now especially as you look at the tech industry in san francisco and we see that it is one of the number one growing industries in our city. what we find is that we are reacting to what they do rather than being proactive about creating the kinds of policies that would allow for these technologies to not only thrive in san francisco or be meaningful for the residents. this is a new direction for the city. we don't see a bunch of scooters all over the city and them they have to pick them up and take them to figure out what to do with them, then the supervisors have to introduce legislation on a rapid pace and we are trying to catch up with technology and implement policies so that we we can have a system in place. not just about regulation. it is about safety. i
