these heavy bands of rain already on the carolina coastline, virginia, as well, working up the delmarva peninsulais is well ahead of what will be marked as the center of the storm so when someone says the center of the storm passes your coastline, you will have for hours have been in the rain and wind of this storm before the center gets to you. here's the hurricane center's track. it takes it right up the coast from its landfall in north carolina to the next landfall in western long island. again, that's somewhere near nassau county that moves again, makes its third landfall on the connecticut shoreline between connecticut and rhode island. how the winds will be, it will matter little to you whether we call it a tropical storm or hurricane at this point. in the red field those winds will be in excess of 60 miles an hour, inland they'll be strong as well. rain is worse west and that will have anywhere from 6 to 12 inches even though the others will have a good solid 3-6 inches. it's still a storm capable of changing the coastline as we know it as we have all these waves pounding at 15 to 20 feet
