delta may be crazy like a fox.y have gotten jpmorgan to take the vast majority of the balance sheet risk on this deal if it comes to pass. delta would buy this facility for $100 to $200 million. jpmorgan would finance the inventory. they would buy crude oil from nigeria or another source, ship it to the u.s., finance the refining process. the jet fuel that resulted would be sold back to delta at effectively wholesale prices and the other products that come out of this particular plant which include kerosene, diesel and other things could be sold by jpmorgan on the open market. hopefully for them at a profit. delta is sort of hedged on this one because they don't have to actually bankroll these processes. one other interesting element is delta has done deals with two major oil companies who would essentially swap them additional jet fuel in exchange for some of the diesel and other things coming out of tray nor that jpmorgan is not selling. >> they've obviously put a lot of thought into this. this wasn't some fly-by

delta and conoco-phillips?better looking and smarter than i am. >> tell us what's happening here? >> it's a pact breaking deal if it comes through. here's what i'm hearing, serious talk in the commodities world about the idea of delta airlines buying a conoco-phillips refinery known as the trainer facility. it's been on the block for a while now. conoco-phillips is the seller. they had an original deadline for march and extended that until the end of may. there have been reports out there by the gas price research service and the local papers near the refinery that delta was one of the serious bidders. i'm hearing that delta is seriously looking at this refinery as a way of cutting down on their costs of jet fuel. it's about 36% of delta's costs. and by doing this they are hoping, i hear, to save some money, essentially by, first of all, getting domestic crude by other sources rather than west africa which is a key source of the petroleum used in jet fuel refining. also, that they would be able to do something

she is live at 30 rock with more news on delta. kate, over to you. >> thanks, maria.ews we've been chasing for several weeks about delta buying a refinery in pennsylvania not far from philadelphia is coming to pass. i'm told that deal of between delta and conico phillips, actually phillips 66, has come together today. delta will be spending $150 because they are getting 30 million from the state of pennsylvania. it a s a pretty unique deal. they are trying to essentially create about 80% of their domestic jet fuel needs by a combination of things. first of all, take the refinery which now produces about 12,000 barrels of jet fuel per day and take that up to max capacity, which is 52. they will also have swap arrangements with bp and phillips 66 in which those companies will provide jet you'll to delta in exchange for all product that come out of trainer, maria. . a unique situation. >> it is. i'm sitting here with boone pickens. boone questioning, why aren't they getting subcy dies. >> in the reason is, this is a facility idle last september and hundreds of jobs were
