delta had been talking about making 6 to 7 bucks a share. that the company cut its free cash flow forecast from 3 billion to 2 billion. that's terrible. higher fuel and maintenance costs. if delta was going to cut its full year growth and maintenance numbers they -- when they preannounced to the down side last month better just to rip off the band-aid. what do we do? despite the guide down a lot of what i saw from delta actually makes me feel more sanguine about travel rather than an end to the travel boom we might just be experiencing some turbulence. of course this doesn't apply to the entire industry. we think that low-cost carriers are going to struggle. but delta's going increasingly high-end. that business is holding up fine. how about the cost side of the equation? well, management's done a good job of cutting costs that they can control. the airlines are still hostage to oil prices and with another war in the middle east it's hard to argue that fuel costs are going to come down too much from these levels. here's the bottom line. the
