house democrats have filled 117 of the 120 seats on the ballot and senate democrats have filled 50 seatsut of 50 on the ballot. one of the things we did in virginia we learned after republicans failed in recruitment that we were on a stronger path to switch from red to blue and we knew that. -- we knew that asked -- we knew that as soon as the deadline. let's go to our next target. pennsylvania. pennsylvania, a huge state for redistricting and opportunity to have the next democratic after -- democratic trifecta after virginia. there is a democratic governor, tom wolfe. we won a special election here in april of 2019. this is a preview of what is to come out of pennsylvania. a 20-year navy veteran flipped a district that trump had won by five points. that is significant. that is a significant change and will hold that state senate seat. in redistricting, winning the legislature will have fair maps and democratic supreme court. we only need nine seats to flip the house. many seats are staggered and we didn't have the opportunity to take them out in 2018. as a result, this will be our first

and join the democratic caucus. he was so disgusted with trumpism that he decided to change parties. so that has been encouraging for us as we go into the next cycle. the redistricting was drawn independently, but it is subject to a legislative vote. iowa has a nonpartisan system. as many of you know, it's a unique system, they call it the iowa model. and so as a result, the legislature certainly can vote down these maps. they've had sort of an agreement and the government tradition of iowa and democrats control the senate but there is certainly a possibility that the republican legislature votes down both congressional and legislative maps, in this increasing partisan time. one thing that we saw was sort of a tea leaf this early in the cycle, republicans tried to change the nominating process for state supreme court and that is something that signalled to us that we're in a more partisan time now in a state that has been pretty bipartisan in iowa. let's go to our next target which is texas. this is a very exciting

voting rights do excited when democrats win majorities and democratic governors sign those bills for us. but new york isn't alone. since donald trump's election we flipped 10 chambers from trode blue. here are those state legislative chambers. we've also flipped 436 seats including victories in 425 districts that trump won. across the board, we made gains in 45 out of 50 u.s. states. the 2018 election was a seat change that we continue into 2019. here's what this looks like right now. right now 42% of americans live in a state where democrats control at the very least the state legislature. in addition to that, state democrats govern nearly 50% of the nation's total g.d.p. gross domestic products. and there are 243 for chunal 500 companies head quartered in a state where democrats control the legislature. so it's a significant footprint on the american economy where democrats control these states. with the addition of virginia and the wins that were had at the gubernatorial level, we now ave 15 democratic trifectas. the combined democratic controlled legislatures is nearly 140 millio
