also joining me howard dean former governor of vermont and the former chairman of the democratic national committeeoth very much for being here. i want to go and talk about this vivek action in a moment. but what do you make of the desantis campaign shake up? is this a good sign or a bad sign about the state of the campaign. brandon, let's start with you. >> it's never a good sign. there's two options here. are you trying to shake up your strategy? and i don't necessarily think that's what this is. it appears this may be a financial problem. the reports are showing that is not bringing a lot of money from grassroots, small donors, and that's really the lifeblood of a campaign in the long run. you can get all of these big donors, but they are maxed out after a little while. and if the grassroots or not they are giving you money continually, it's hard to sustain a big apparatus. so this is the type of problem you usually see when campaigns are starting to fade, maybe even drop out. i don't think we are quite there yet. but when you are in a financial problem like that this early, that's a big, big pr

i don't know if you remember about six years ago, we were at the democratic national committee togethergnant, so i remember it very vividly. and what is interesting to me about your decision to run for congress is that a lot of the action we are washing all across this country, action on big issues, including lgbtq issues, is happening in state legislatures. that is where we are seeing movement. so i wonder for you, what's the appeal of congress? what do you think you can get done there that you can't get done in a state legislative body? >> i have seen over the last three years in a delaware state senate that the possibilities for progress that exist in state legislatures like delaware, that's why i ran for the state senate and it's how i've been able to pass legislation like paid family and medical leave here in just my first term. how often able to pass bills expanding access to health care. why have been fighting for and helping to champion gun safety and reproductive rights. but ultimately, what i've seen is that for so many of the issues that matter to delawareans, like the issues

what's the drc, the national democratic redistricting committee formed january of 2017. um, we decided that if you looked at the redistricting process, redistricting occurs usually a year after the census. so every ten years and if you look at what happened in 2011 democrats got we got our clocks cleaned you know they had republicans had a thing called project map where they really focused redistricting and. we did not. and as a result, they put in place a whole bunch of gerrymanders in 2011 that really have lasted for the course of a decade and, were hard to unwind. some still exist. one, as i said in in wisconsin. and so we decided all right for cycle let's form up an organization that will make sure that the redistricting process has done enough way a fair way not to gerrymander for democrats. my belief that if the system is fair, democrats will do just fine. now, a partizan democrat. but i think you i think we've got better candidates. i we have policies that are more in line with the desires of the people. if we are organized, you know, we'll do just fine. and if we
