it's been a small group of people between senate democrats ,house democrats and the white house. i don't know the common ground. they are certainly not engaging anybody but democrats to work on this build back better bill. when you hear them talking about trying to lower taxes for people that are lower wage earners, putting the tax on cattle and on dairy cows and all the other taxes they want to putt in here and wanting to survey bank accounts if you spend $28 a day, your bank account will be under surveillance and they want another 80 to 85,000 agents to go after these transactions and get the banks to report any transaction. it was $600 and now they realized the american people didn't like that so they put a number like 10,000 of transactions in or out and if you take $10,000 and divided by a year it's about $28 a day so you drive to work, buy a cup of coffee in the morning, get lunch and provide a dinner for your family, i guess the irs will be looking into your bank account. there is a lot of things that haven't had to the light shone on them and that's what we've been doing.

remember, there's a very slim margin of democrats in the house. ts. it looks as of now, they only lost one democrat. and they hit that magic number of 218. now, this bill has been shaped and changed and amended many many times. remember, it started at $3.5 trillion. it's now about $1.75 trillion. 1.85 if you include the immigration components, and this vote was supposed to happen three times before. speaker pelosi said she was going to bring it to the floor. only having to pull it because she did not the votes. now all of the information is in. the cbo cost analysis, all the concerns of the democrats have been alleviated, and ultimately, there was electoral politics at play as well. this is after a very tough election for democrats in virginia, and other places around the country. and the party realized they had to be united. their individual concerns had to be met, and they were able to do it. speaker pelosi got these votes once again in a very difficult attempt to pass this massive legislation filled with democratic priorities, including more tha

first of all, the white house was -- and democratic leaders in the house were comfortable enough over the weekend with silence, public silence from sinema and manchin that they were going to move ahead with both the infrastructure bill and the reconciliation bill. and they thought they would pass both of those bills. if they pass the infrastructure bill, that takes that concern that joe manchin was venting off, off the table. secondly, getting the process started in the house kicks off a much slower process nt senate. the white house was looking at a time table that would end around thanksgiving with passage of the reconciliation bill. that presumably would be plenty of time for joe manchin's questions to be answered. so if you saw what manchin is doing, is venting about pressure that he was getting from progressives an being anied that they hadn't passed the infrastructure bill, that could still be consistent with the scenario where he is going to support the package that -- the framework that was allowed. in addition to that, he was pushing back on some of the things that people are

do democrats have the votes in the house? >> well, wolf, it is good to see you. rking on that right now. the speakers has been working on that. each of us that lead the democratic caucus have been working hard on that. progressives are in the same place that we've been for a couple of days. we're ready to vote both bills through. our friends in some of the other parts of the caucus are getting the information they need to become comfortable with everything that is in the bill. and we hope to be able to get that very quickly. >> why not pass the infrastructure bill, passed the senate overwhelmingly, 69 votes, why not pass that tonight, send it to the president to his desk, let it be signed into law and then deal with the more complicated $1.75 trillion social spending bill? >> well, actually, wolf, almost everybody is on board within the democratic caucus with both bills. so we're just waiting for a handful. and i think we will get that handful and then we'll pass both bills through the house. >> but you definitely want the larger bill, the more controversial spend

are the democrats and because even right now they have, they have complete control of the senate and house of representatives, and they're still struggling to get things through. i mean, i worry, are the democrats right now? i mean, i think they probably are very worried after what happened did virginia, new jersey is also, you know, the democratic majority is a very small. they only want 222 house seats last year, 218. the number for the majority. so they're only a few see to have, you know, in the majority. and the senate is tied 5050 now democratic vice president, couple of harris breaks, ties in the senate. but, you know, the republicans really need to now, you know, one see in the senate and a handful of seats in the house to put both chambers. and it also speaks to very helps explain some of the democrats governing challenges that their party has to be basically entirely unified to pass anything in, in the house that the senate. and it's just hard for a party to be like that. and i do suspect that there are a lot of members who are looking what happened in virginia to jersey and say,

democrat has put it back in the bill. and what he said to me it was very challenging for him to see it in there and house democrats were awarethose parameters. manchin has been consistent on things like this, like paid leave and as well as he doesn't want to rush this. while house democrats on the point and moderates versus progressives, it's that they'd just like to move on this. that is not where senator joe manchin is. he's been fine with this taking a little bit more time. in fact, those are the words he ruses repeatedly when we ask about each twist and turn. i think the change is what pelosi is saying publicly versus privately. publicly in that news conference in which he gave in the last hour or so, she wasn't saying when the house was going to vote. privately this morning, she did say she could see a build back better bill and infrastructure bill on friday. voting on that surely ensures that progressives are able to have the bills linked. >> right. >> reporter: but make no mistake, chuck, once they move to the bipartisan infrastructure bill, that bill is done. it can go to the president's desk. but the reality of the
