little 8-year-old martin richard was laid to rest in an emotional private funeral mass attended by 500 people. many were crying children. his parents, denise and bill richard, issued a statement saying the outpouring of love and support over the last week has been tremendous. this has been the most difficult week of our lives and we appreciate that our friends and family have given us space to greave and heal. the funeral for 26-year-old mit campus police officer sean collier owho was allegedly am burekd by the brothers was held in massachusetts. meanwhile, the number of injured has increased to 264 people. many still suffer ringing in the ears from the deafening sound of the bombs. kaelyn katz was severely injured in the leg and thought she would die. i didn't think i was going to make it when he laid me down in the alley. there was a good amount of bleeding. i made a phone call to my sister and was more concentrated on saying my good byes which is so sad. >> and tonight the brothers estranged sisters bella and elena who live in new jersey issued a statement to the lawyers condemning the attack. they have said our heart goes out to the in

the richard family and the o'brien family, denise's maiden name is o'brien. just good people. active in the community, active in baseball. the boys played baseball. their daughter, very active. just a good family. hard working people. denise is a librarian at one of our local charter schools. an absolute sweetheart. and just good family. and so they asked me to convey this as well. they are so thankful, so thankful of the emergency responders who rescued them. bill said, you know, he described the detonation and the impact and he said literally in the seconds after the explosion, it was really a swarm of people coming forward to help. help his daughter, especially. he said that he credited civilian responders and also uniformed responders with saving his daughter's life there in the street. he did not think she would make it without that help that they gave. he is also, the family is also very thankful for the dor chester community and the city of boston, the state and the country for their show of support. they're carrying a heavy burden. they lost their son. they lost martin

little son, 8-year-old martin richard, was killed, and bill's wife is in the hospital right now, serious injury and also his daughter. actually his wife's name is deni deniseer's name is jane. jane is 6 years old. she lost a leg in the blast and lost part of a second leg. and little jane is a dancer. so she is in the hospital recovering. so everyone's prayers should be with both of them. they have one more son, henry, he wasn't hurt, and he's with his father. now, the family has released a picture of martin, a picture of him wearing his boston bruins shirt, big bruins fan, like so many children here in new england, they won the stanley cup two years ago in the 2011 season. also, a statement has been released from bill richard, the father. my dear son martin has died from injuries sustained in the attack on boston. my wife and daughter are both recovering from serious injuries. we thnk our family and friends and those we know and those we have never met for their thoughts and prayers. i ask that you continue to pray for my family as we remember martin. we also ask for your patience and privacy as we work to simultaneously grieve and recover. thank you. we a
