lockhart, dennis lockhart, said that the fed can afford to be patient on the first rate hike. that seemed to turn the markets around. am i right or am i wrong? >> i think you're dead right because what it did, it relaxed the trading environment. once again, just told the story that the fed is going to be very data dependent. they will not come out with some point and graph chart saying we'll raise rates no mater what in march or june or whatever. the markets are pointing to june. it was a comforting factor. beyond the fact right now we're in very complacent environment in the stock market, just soothes a lot of fears and got people back excited about the stock market. liz: excited about the stock market but there are some parts with a lot of money under management who are a little worried. i want to bring in michael binger. tell me what about the market's behavior bothered you today. >> i think volatility is increasing. when you look back just a few weeks ago back in october, we had a pretty steep correction. we recovered that and a lot more. so right now i think there is a li

let's bring in dennis gartman. what happens to that short lived pop? why did it reverse so hard into the end of the day sf? >> it did not live very long. it was over very, very quickly and it probably should have been. it was predicated on the fact that there hawere problems over the weekend in libya. 900,000 barrels had had taken out because of the problems over the past month of two and with some destroyed in a tank. that should have given you a rally. the bulls had hoped you would get a rally, but around midday, it dawned on everybody, hey, wait a minute, everybody knows this has been taken out of the market. we know that libya has had reduced production. we understand this tank has been hit. what if libya does come bang to the market and puts 900,000 barrels back into it. both brent, wti and dubai crude continues to widen. the term structure continues to be even on up days, massively bearish. crude is bidding for storage when and where it could find it. it's still going lower still. people laughed at me a month and a half ago when i thought we were

dennis was quite correct saying it's got to be the risk you're looking at.sing boom and bust that caused a recession. we lost 2 million jobs before september 2008. we were in a recession by the time of the financial crisis. and so whenever i hear something smb say, "well, we don't want banks gambling with derivatives," i don't want banks with shoddy mortgages and we're going down that road again. that's riskier than a derivative. banks lost billions on their fanny and freddie holdings of prefersed shared. we didn't make them push that oát. i'm concerned rather than say let's shrink the safety net, we get in political arguments over this constituency, that's bad because wall street likes it, but because the realtors and home builders like this, that's okay. that's the debate we're inç today. to me we need toned all the bailouts. >> sreenivasan: mark calabria, dennis kelleher, thanks so much. >> sreenivasan: we're getting to that time of the holiday season when people are scrambling a bit to lock down that special gift, often wondering what would make a good
