linn county auditor joel miller attended that hearing, and we spoke with him today. clayton county auditor dennis freitag has been working from home for months now, while he takes care of his sick wife, pam. since then, board members say he's fallen beeind in getting important financial documents completed and turned in to the right people. however, miller came away from the hearing wondering why the board didn't question any other members of freitag's department, such as his deputy auditor. miller says it sounds like there are some reports that still need to be filed to close out clayton county's fiscal year 2015 books. but he heard nothing to indicate the county's business isn't gettig done. 51:22-:34 "i just got a listing of counties that were behind in filing a certain report, and i didn't see clayton county on there. so the reports are getting filed, and this is the report with the department of management." that report miller referred to was a tax credit report. on monday, clayton county's board of supervisors said they were going to review freitag's hearing with the county attorney. the h-

dennis freitag about concerns over being behind in his work. he'sbeen working from home, caring for his sick wife for months. linn county auditor joel miller attended that hearing. t-v nine's brady smith sat down with miller this afternoon. brady, what was his reaction to all this? miller sent a letter to every other county auditor in the state, following freitag's hearing. in it, he called the hearing "one-sided," and wonders why the board didn't interview anyone else from freitag's department. many of the board's questions for freitag had to do with fiscal year 2015 reports, and if they were all up-to-date. but miller says not once during the hearing, did he detect that freitag had missed any obvious statutory deadlines. he also wondered what would have prevented other people in freitag's department from his home, where he was working on them while caring for his wife. 47:09-26 "the employees were getting paid, the bills were getting paid. certainly there's some reports that sounded like they needed to be done that the outside auditors wanted to have in order to close the books. but i didn't hear anything that was stopping the business o
