bishop dennis sullivan just updated us on the plan to energize parishioners in that diocese during the pope's visit. nbc 10 south jersey reporter cydney long is live in camden. what did the bishop have to say? >> reporter: the bishop says we need to think well beyond ourselves and he basically extended an invitation of 40 days of francis' countdown to the pope's historic visit next month to put yourself and ourselves in the shoes of the less fortunate. he wants those, catholic or not, to hear francis' cry for the poor and for 40 days until the pope arrives in philadelphia consider this an invite, more or less a challenge to get involved and to help fund programs to focus poverty across south jersey. there will be open houses that benefit dinner, and a food relay drive by high school students in the area and all efforts led and organized by the diocese catholic charities program and important to note that all of the proceeds will fight hunger to address some 200 homeless vets in new jersey's six counties that make up the diocese. some of the worst poverty felt far beyond camden city and
