and disarmament and denuclearization on the korean peninsula as opposed to denuclearization of north korea? >> well, i think that is the absolutely crucial point. the word denuclearization is a north korean word. it's the word the north cokorea chose in the 1980s when they didn't have nuclear weapons but the united states did have them on the korean peninsula. what they mean is a process by which relations are improved and some day in the future, maybe, for example, like president obama's prague speech, we get to a world in which we won't need nuclear weapon anymore. denuclearization is about putting improvement of relationship first and disarmament second, maybe never. the united states has always criticized that arguing that what we want is disarmament and a dismantlement of the facili facilities. we need to do that first and then the relationship gets better. you really have this fundamental difference of opinion about what is supposed to come first, disarmament or improvement of relations. simply saying denuclearization of the peninsula doesn't help us do more than paper over tha

the denuclearization is something the president mentioned. at one point, he said it would happen quickly. at another, he said it would go very slowly. >> trump gave two interviews before he left singapore. he was speaking of a special bond with kim. >> he spoke to his favorite news channel and to his favorite interviewer. sean hannity of fox news. abcnews has released a -- has released a few snippets with george stephanopoulos. there are some of the sentiments, i trust him and he trusts me. the special bond that the u.s. president spoke about between kim jong-un and donald trump. he believes it truly exists. add to that the body language we saw. that is something we have been analyzing closely. this is the first time a u.s. president meets with a north korean leader. there were handshakes and smiles. there was a thumbs-up from the u.s. president. very positive language from the u.s. president toward the north korean leader. he said it was an honor to be with them. and the fact that he talked about trust. this of course, this whole meeting and

you have denuclearization on its own track. if president trump is going to claim success for this -- probably not on duke -- on denuclearization but on a peace treaty on the korean peninsula, whether that has positive or negative effects on e prospects for denuclearization is an open question. i have here -- heard analyses both ways. i think you can make the argument that yes, it is not all at once. but it looks different. it feels different than what has been done before. generally speaking, there are three different elements. one is nuclear weapons. to address the issue of testing nuclear weapons, reduction onuclear weapons and stockpile of nuclear weapons. then there is the challenge already because we don't know how many nuclear weapons. we have in us -- an estimate. thehere is a gap between high-end figure and the low-end figure. when we talk about comprehensive dismantlement of nuclear weapons, we don't know how many they have to dismantle. in terms of materials, we have to find out where those materials and whether or no
