by not having a go from denver to salt lake, it went from denver to a point in southern utah. one had even heard of that. even utah officials said, we did not ask for this. federal planners were angling i-70 down to hit interstate i-15. there was a desire for a quick route from denver to los angeles will stop there are probably more sources to look at. it appears from the sources i was able to find that that was the most important deciding factor. the announcement that colorado was getting its interstate was cause for jubilation stop colorado felt sure that this would bring more tourism. it was still to be decided where the new interstate would go stop federal planners had only 60 endpoints. -- fixed the endpoints. how would he from point a to point b? this was a cause for debate in colorado. -- varies groups had different arguments for their route. a make a long story short, technocratic governor called in a new york engineering firm to study the possible routes and decide from an expert engineering perspective. this firm studied no fewer than eight possible routes, including

a very populated area in the city of denver. we had multiple tornado warnings. the storm system is falling apart. reports of an official tornado touching down around aurora, colorado. we have hail 4 1/2 centimeters in diameter. >> we know in the united states in 2012, hail related insurance claims usually upwards of 3 to $4 billion a year. you take a look at this. this is happening on wednesday afternoon. you see how it adds up as far as expensive setup. it was on this date in 1996 a hail storm went through the city of denver and it caused upwards of $180 million in damages in today's value so interesting setup. colorado is the united states hail alias it's known in this region as they have the most disruptive and most frequent large hail stones in the country. this is the setup right here right now with the storm system. it is beginning to move off to the east around hastings, nebraska. a few hail storms. none are severe. the setup is we saw 11 reports of tornadoes, 6 of them across the metro area. nearly 90 reports of wind-related damages. some of the scenes o
