i was born and raised in denver, colorado. i wrote a book on the history of soul food. given where i grew up, that was street read on that subject. i have to southern parents. my dad is from chad a new guy and my father from helena. this is the food i grew up eating. it was while i was researching that book on the history of soul food that african americans who have cooked for our presidents started popping up in my research. i said once i finish that book, if i can find enough stories to cobble together a story about the presidential chefs, i will do it. fortunately, i was able to do that and write this book. i am a lawyer by training, and i did not, not to disparage any attorneys, it was not for me. i was going to open up a soul food restaurant in denver and then a law school classmate of mine from georgetown law school called me up out of the blue and said adrian, i am working on an initiative in the white house. do you have any friends who might be interested in working on this? i am sitting in my office in denver and she is back in d.c.. i say tell me more. it was

get exposed to more radiation then you would walking around the city of new york or living in denver, colorado, or wearing a watch with a radium dial. i was young and naive, and believed them. but at the same time, must have had some inkling in the back of my mind because even though they didn't do any baseline testing that, in retrospect, you would expect somebody going into a potentially radioactive area, you would expect them to have sperm count, blood workup, urine analysis test. they didn't do any of that. i, on my own, went, wound up getting a sperm count, which was normal, before i went over. went over there, spent a little less than six months there, and came back. and my wife, during the entire time we were married, we never had used any birth control. and she wasn't getting pregnant, wasn't getting pregnant, and that's when i learned that my time over there potentially had an effect on my health. and i learned that technically i was sterile. so, went on and i continued to have unexplained illnesses. deep muscle pain. bone aches, fevers that would come and go without any explanation,
