i'm meteorologist eboni deon. we're taking a look at the temperatures with a dividing line with temperatures in the mid 70s at this hour. we'll continue to feel the heat building here across the southern plains, this is an area where we'll see temperatures climbing in the 90s, and possibly getting warmer than that. so a lot of records are in jeopardy for today and on into our tuesday as well. the heat will be sticking around. good news for those who have lived across the northern tier this heat will be expanded making it's way to the north and east, and temperatures warming up well above average. for those of you in chicago it will stay on the cooler side. mid 50s that will be about it. temperatures will at least get in the mid 60s. this is closer to normal. by the time we get into the middle of the week we'll need to watch the skies, we're expecting highs near 80 dress on wednesday with thunderstorms, and then by thursday, 86 degrees. so don't be worried that warmth is going to make it into the area. for now it's

let's bring in meteorologist eboni deon. >> we are watching for active weather again, and we'll focus attention on the area shaded in red. now the storm prediction center issued a moderate risk of weather, a better chance of seeing tornado when we dealt with yesterday. as we go through the day to day, stretching to parts of the great lakes, we see the trech. by the time we head into monday, it will be in the middle of the country stretching from michigan, wisconsin, down to missouri and st. louis. looks like it will be a bit active, even early in the work week. we have a thunderstorm watch in the north central arse. i have been watching a line of storms lifting. you can see the line along i-80. expect heavy downpours with the line. we could be dealing with wind gusts. looking at the set up for today, there's a potent spring storm system moving north wards. to the south, warm air. we have cold canadian air slipping southward to the mountainous areas of colorado, into utah, triggering snow showers. this morning, in the denver area, we are dealing with rain, but as temperatures fall thro

. >>> we bring in meteorologist eboni deon for more. >> it looks like a quiet wrap-up to the weekend. not expecting to see severe weather. it is good news. much of the nation dominated by a ridge of high pressure. keeping us quiet and dry. it will be cloudy, blustery thanks to an area of low pressure wrote iteming to the east. we are seeing showers in the area, off and on around new jersey and the new york city area. it will be one of those days because we are expecting to see scattered rain showers. across the south-east we are drying out. there has been a lot of heavy rainfall, now the frontal boundary slipped south. we were going to see the level chance of rain activity. as we go through the day it's a quite start for a few more thunder storms. >> behind it high pressure is dominating. it's the heat that is the big story here. temperatures are soaring above average. we could hit a few records from dallas and oklahoma and tulsa as temperatures climb into the '90s, and a few areas dealing with triple digit numbers. with the hot air, dry conditions, fire danger is imminent. texas to n

we turn to meteorologist eboni deon for more on the weather >>> we'll see some improvement, but not the moisture that we need. you can see the orange shading. that's the dry air. we'll get a bit of moisture pulling in. it's not the moisture that will help us out. as you see here we are lacking the rain fall. what we find with the onshore flow is a cool down. temperatures are getting back to where they should be. we'll see the temperatures 5-15 degrees cool are. that is great news around san diego. all the active fires - we set a record high of the 92. today temperatures fall into the mid 70s to 80 degrees. we'll find a bit of relief, the fire threat is further inland. we'll have gusty winds and it will be hot. on sunday we'll have fire weather watches in place across arizona. >>> today is the 50th - 60th anniversary of the brown versus born education decision. the president met with plaintiffs at a meeting at the white house yesterday. president obama praised the decision, cautioning that there's work to be done. we must recommit ourselves to the long struggle to stamp out bigotry and r

meteorologist eboni deon is here to tell us more? >> it is thanks for a cold front keeping it cool across the middle of the country where they are rebuilding and cleaning up. in the northeast, the rain is falling. we are dealing. we have different parts of maine clear here we have that trough digging out. a disturbance on the bottom of that. >> that's what has brought us rain across parts of tennessee on into alabama and nowga. here is a look at the rain we are still dealing with in the northeast. wet and windy around caribou. earlier, around portland, it has come to an end. we have it around lots of deep moisture. a lot of heavy rainfall came in across the mid add atlantic and northeast over the last 24 hours. recordbreaking rainfall where we picked up over three inches. over two around washington and national. that was a record for the day. so, it's soggy out here. we will get a chance to dry out. we have dryer air moving in. rivers will get a chance to recede as we catch a break because now, we are seeing that rain coming down but

i'm meteorologist eboni deon. we have wet and stormy conditions as high pressure builds. we're dealing with a lot of moisture coming off the gulf of mexico. really pumping up that gulf of mexico moisture all the way into parts of the upper midwest where that moisture is interacting with an area of low pressure. we're dealing with a frontal boundary that is stalling out here. a lot of rain and threat of strong to severe storms. right now most of the rain has been over louisiana. as we head a little further north we've been watching the rain across i-80 and heavier rain moving into western areas of cans. as we track this wet weather throughout the day you have to keep an eye out across central and northern portions o minnesota and wisconsin. we could see two to three inches in those localized areas and that could cause flooding. keep that in mind. damaging winds and large hail will be a good bet and a few isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out. so pretty active weather. we've been watching this flare-up of storms around new orleans throughout the morning. it's still raining

. >> meteorologist: i'm meteorologist eboni deon, still watching the rain as thunderstorms go across eastern u.s. that will pretty much be the story throughout the day. not everyone getting in on the active weather but we're watching across the midwest, an area where we could see severe storms developing, including much of the state of missouri as welaswell as kansas and oklahom. notice that we are nice and clear behind this, and it is allowing a lot of sunshine. this continues to lift up to the north and east. as you can see here across the louisiana area we started off pretty stormy. things are now drying out just a bit. keeping an eye to the sky if you do have outdoor plans. a storm is possible throughout the day. we had a lot of dense fog around the northeast earlier this morning. but now we're getting a break from the clouds. plenty of motion still around meaning with breaks of sunshine that could add to the instability. across the midwest mainly just some showers activity. we're noticing clear skies all across missouri, we'll still have to watch this area not just for today but

for more on the weather in that area, we turn now to our meteorologist eboni deon. what can those fire fighters expect today? >> they are going to be dealing with windy conditions but there is a little bit more moisture in the air. >> will help to add a little bit more less fuel to what we are seeing within tape areas. overall across the southwest, we are expecting winds to pick up as we go through the day. this is a look at sustained winds. note the direction. winds from the south and southwest. >> that's providing us with the warmth. but we are also allowing some of that air to come in off of the pacific. it's giving us a little bit higher humidity levels here across the coastal areas but further inland, it is still very dry. you talk about very dry conditions, gusty winds and dry conditions across this area, or at least dry brush. >> will help to fuel any other fires that will pick up. so there is still that fire weather threat here across parts of new mexico arizona and now includes northern areas of texas. temperatures in this general vicinity will climb into t

i am meteorologist eboni deon. we are feeling the heat across much of the south. it will make way to the northeast and east through the next 48 hour. in chicago, today, we are only going to make it into the mid and upper 50s. below average by about 10 to degrees thanks to the clouds. we are getting a push of cooler air as the winds come down from the north and northwest. on monday, a little more sunshine returns and finally, by tuesday, we will make it into the mid 60 did, getting a little bit closer to normal. take a look at thursday. >> is when temperatures will peak in the low 80s. going from below average to well above. now, temperatures here across much of texas, the southern plains, we have been dealing with near record high temperatures. we started off the weekend with highs in the 90s. we will see a repeat of that again today. unfortunately, with the heat, it is very dry and so we are dealing with red flag warnings, not a good idea to do any kind of burning in this area. we just don't have enough moisture in place. any fires that do erupt, we can see them

for more on that, we turn on our meteorologist, eboni deon. >> we will see this threat extending not just for today but into the beginning of the work week as well. so, spring is definitely here we are seeing the effects of it. this is when we start to get contrasting weather conditions. right here, this is a look at what we are expecting rain and thunderstorm activity. it's in this area shaded in red where the storm predipings center out a warning. this is an area where we will see tornados developing with some of those strong to even severe storms in the day and it stretches from texas into michigan. as an area of low pressure continues to move out of the four corners and lift northward, we are going to be dealing with that warm moist flow of air that has continued over the last several days. dew points in the 70s across the southern plains. we will see numbers increasing across the midwest as well. so there is lots of moisture already in place. now, on the back side of this system, we have a colder air from the north already changed over to snow into the denver colorado area. we s

eboni deon is here with that. >> it is a stormy start to the day across the big easy. >> that's whereis coming down this morning active weather taking plates here right now, it's pretty widespread. as we put our radar in motion, you can see spin in the atmosphere bringing up from the gulf of mexico moisture right around new orleans. >> that's where we are seeing the bulk of the action. as we head a little further north, we are dealing with heavier down pours more isolated here coming into the panhandle of oklahoma and texas. we need the rainfall here it's going to make for some messy travel conditions. we definitely will benefit from that rain. here across the upper midwest, the rain has been heavy. some areas have already seen over two inches of rain as we get through this weekend, we could see an additional two to three inches of rain along with severe storms. we will watch this area very closely heading out on sunday. the rain is further east. we are also watching the tropics. hurricane season starts tomorrow and it's this area of showers and storms we will monitor for possible dev
