, the police department requires 600' distance, which the police department actually uses a measuring wheel to wheel off for their validation. this has been the practice of the police department. and the department of public works sees no reason to establish another way of evaluating these distances. it would not be possible for staff to walk through buildings and what not. it must be a walking distance for us to accurately determine the distances. there was a question again going back to like foods. we have people suggesting that in the morning, all they serve is coffee and that is competition as it relates to like food. however, as stated previously, again, in our order, as to established guidelines, we determine like food by looking at the totality of the menu in order to be fair and consistent. otherwise, there is no way for the department to make that evaluation. we literally have to send someone out there and stand there for different timeframes, in order to make that determination. that would not be propriety. appropriate. >> there were questions related and i have to apologize

the primary department that is working on the implementation for the department and we have been working with them alongside starting before this development and contract. we have actually right now, the interface and as soon as the testing is complete. it has been set up for training on the cashiers as soon as it is complete we will do the training and improve the position. for now, the tentative days is the middle of february for the tax collect and her we are planing to go right after within a couple of weeks after the tax collecters. the next project was the refresh fof the computers for the staff. swre been having a three year replacement cycle, where we have deployed computers, every year, we have got about 50 to 100 computers that we deploy. so it is the oldest computer that will would be like four years at the most. so to have been up to date we have purchased the latest of 50 commuters over the counter staff on the fifth floor and they will be getting the new pcs this month and we have plans ongoing every year. we have about 100 in the budget to plan. >> commissioner walker? >>

this is an exciting time for the police department. we have academy classes in and i think you all received your invitation for friday's night graduation. we have a new academy class starting february 4 so we're moving in the right direction but we still have budget concerns. our numbers are drastically low. when i say our numbers, our police members on the street, and we are 15% below what we would like to be at, but our officers on the street, especially the street officers do an incredible job. they are active and visible and i think they are serving the public. the budget is concerning but we do have moreen beganin who is the chief financial officer and i think she gives us very accurate information and tell uses the direction we need togo in. i know the chief and i have faith in her and it's well placed. we have made fewer arrests and i think that will continue to occur. again we are focusing our efforts on moving forward but if there is anything you would like me to address now i'm on the administration side of the police departm

is there any department made by your department of which particular contractors are doing unpermitted work through the city? do you keep a list? >> i wish we did:no with, we don't. in my experience i have seen the last three or four years, maybe with the economy, things are doing a lot more work without a permit and it annoys me when i hear a contractor didn't get a permit. they are licensed contractors and know for this type of work particularly. there is a loot of investigation time that goes into this and they are not big-money permits so to speak. but we are bound by city charter to investigate the complaints. there are -- to answer your question, we don't keep a list, but contractors should know about and advise homeowners when this happens. i saw they applied for another permit to legalize some rooms on the ground floor which is not part of the violation and there seems to be a contractor in place on that permit and that permit has not been issued yet. i noticed that before i came up to the meeting. >> what is the name of that contractor? >> homeworks construction service, one b
