department of building inspections and san francisco fire department. >> thank you. ms. johnson, okay ms. johnson i'm sorry. we are starting on another item you are you going to speak about the grand jury report? okay then please come forward. >> my name is sylvia johnson. i've been talking to the city attorney and [inaudible] secretary about some of these court hearing sessions with a civil grand jury and this is one of the grand jury's that i was [inaudible] intended to because most likely my phone did not coordinate with me right. i thought the number was [inaudible]. i'm trying to discover a phone that will be more wracked on these issues. because this is the way the grand jury has been to explain [inaudible] and associated with [inaudible].org and i have with railroad construction [inaudible] not olden times but [inaudible] the tracking licenses that are [inaudible] here in the city for our safety and some of the areas that we have a driving situation [inaudible] is more like a [inaudible] driving and i don't think [inaudible] categories need to be put on our drivin

the police department, every policy is reviewed by the department of justice federal monitor, who is appointed by a federal judge. policy, we asked asked -- experts. officials from ice were brought in. the major city chiefs association represents 70 million for instance, the major city's chief association, which new orleans is a member, represents 70 million americans. they support policies that foster trust, cooperation, between police officers and immigrant communities we all serve. my third point is that nopd's policy on immigration status which make the city safer. it frees up our officers to focus on violent crime and allows anyone to report a crime or to be a witness or a victim to report a crime. the policy is already bearing fruit. on the ground, our staff is seeing better cooperation with immigrant communities. back to 2010, we did invite the justice department in. their comprehensive investigation showed that we had problems in the way we treated the immigrant community. we wanted to fix that. since 2010, we have launched 11 new recruit classes, written 34 more of these pol

led by our our office but mostly involving the planning department the building department, department of environment, dpw, working with us, puc, human services agency, this is really an all hands on deck effort. i think the city should be very proud of it. of course, the center that is a partnership with the housing authority which currently owns and manages the properties. on the financial side, the city is putting in about $100 million into these projects across both phases. again this is 3500 units. it may sound like a lot but in phase 2 alone were leveraging $330 million in private debt and $814 million in private equity. so, we are leveraging about 10-21 the city's investment in these properties. these properties are located across the subject of their 9/11 of our supervisorial district of this is unusual to have a presence and have such great activity and improvement of our housing across the whole city. today, we have representatives of a number of the developing teams. seven developer teams doing these 14 projects. a number of them are here if there are questions from you all
