deb'd like to again thank and her colleagues at the department of education for the leadership of the federal partners in bullying prevention and the steering committee. this has been an outstanding partnership across a number of federal agencies including the department of justice. i'm proud of that it office of justice programs has been a part of this work. i am pleased to be here representing the department of justice along with my colleagues including thep, administrator of the office of juvenile justice and deliberately prevention who will be part of a panel later on today. this is an excellent opportunity to talk about our commitment to addressing the link between bullying and life outcomes for young people, particularly in addressing academic success and avoiding involvement with the juvenile and criminal justice systems, because if we do our ofs well, you can put us out business. we know through research conducted by the national center for school encasement that bullying adversely affect school attendance and we know generally that truancy and dropping out of school are risk
