andd i can say from first-hand experience that certainly folks at the department of justice and the white house counsel's office and the like took them very seriously. i think one thing to keep in mind is the extent to which the attorney general and the department of justice are primarily responsible for enforcing thesebl norms. and thehe president's direct authority toe supervise the attorney general at the end is the authority toth appointing h with the advice and consent of the senate and to remove him. but with that authority, while important, is not easy and as we see, can be politically costly. so meanwhile the president, you know, cannot open an investigation and apart from the pardon pour cannot close one son it's the attorney general who has responsibility kind of on aa daily basis of make sure that t the department's criminal and civil decisions are made for the right reason, and so, you know,s i think obviously there's been a lot of discussion about this in -- you know, in recent times and some of that comes on the -- the front end of the investigation into president trump's campaign
