news4 derrick ward joins us live from the columbia mall with a look at today's events. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. there's nothing remarkable about this mall parking lot. there's emotions you can't see that are front and center and will be for some time. now it's been one week ago, will be one week ago today that breana benlolo and jonathan taylor lost their life. mental health issues seem to be at the center of why. also in the days since remembrances of the victims. there is a vigil, has been a vigil for benlolo and johnson. that was on thursday and there's a memorial gone up outside of the mall and another inside. at the zumiez store, shoppers left messages of condolence and remembrances for the victims, for those lives cut short violently and unexpectedly and continuing in that vein today at 11:15, there will be a moment of silence inside the mall. it's a sense they have embraced what happened here and not push it aside and begin the healing process for a place that for all intents and purpose the center of this community. right now we're live in columb

news 4 derrick ward has been talking to neighbors about what they heard in this developing story. derrick? >> reporter: well, good morning. this happened at the lexington courts apartments. you see the sign there behind me. it was 5:30 yesterday. this is off mar burrow park. someone called saying they found three dead in the apartment complex. we spoke to neighbors that said three days ago they heard gunshots but not hear a police response. it's unclear if police were c l called or if that's connected to this. some residents are just returning home. this was a crime scene for a good part of the evening. they were not allowed to return to their apartments. police are expected to return to this complex some thyme today to knock on doors, pass out fliers to get information on the homicide. one of the victims, an adult male was a resident of the complex. we're live in capital heights, news 4. >> derrick, thanks. >>> police are looking for two missing women in separate cases. 70-year-old rita cummings was last seen yesterday afternoon leaving her job in d.c. driving her 2012 blue legacy

derrick ward is live in arlington with more on this growing problem. we talked about this on faceb k facebook. seems like everybody has been hit by a pothole. >> reporter: oh yeah, everybody has. they're quite familiar with them. when people show up in the community, we say what are you here for? they automatically say you're here for the pothole aren't you? people are maneuvering around it. this is actually a bit of a reputation here in this neighborhood. we found people taking a picture of this pothole. we've seen a couple of cars hit it. people have come by and told us they can hear it at night when it's harder to see. they hear that sound of the car hitting the pothole. some actually bottoming out. we talked to one local resident about it. >> i'm a regular commuter. it's kind of hard to miss. i'm a chef. i want to fill it with rainbow sprinkles as an intervention. >> reporter: that would be nice. i'm sure the birds and cats around here would love that. in many cases, there are several around. they have done 3200 in january, and 2500 this month. you
