derrick ward is live in vienna virginia. derrick, so what are you seeing right now? >> reporter: good morning. again, what we're seeing right now is a let up in the rain as a barely perceptible drizzle falling right now. you see route 123 behind me just remains wet. certainly passable. but again, this is what we're expecting now and a big change later on. if you take a look over here on the second day road, you see part of the all hands on deck effort by vdot. 3800 vehicles out at the ready to start treating the roads once the conditions become favorable for that. we've also seen on the way up here some smaller contract maybe pickup truck plow blades and salt dispensers in the back. sand and salt dispensers to make sure parking lots and some of the secondary roads are treated as well. because it looks like some of those businesses may indeed be open once the snow starts to fall. but again, preparing for all hands on deck here in virginia vdot is asking people not to travel if they don't have to and if you park your car, they're asking if they park this your driveway
