news 4 derrick ward was alive this morning near the home with more on what police are saying. derrick. >> yeah. well you can see this remains the crime scene. take a look at the house in the 3200 block of woodlawn drive northwest. the fire on thursday. this is surveillance footage. police are calling they released this video last night. this person is a person of interest 46-year-old savvas savopoulos his wife amy and 10-year-old child philip as well as the housekeeper. no bodies found amid the charred remains of the fire that appears to have been focused upstairs. investigators say at the time they found bodies one showed trauma. at the hospital there was a strong smell of gasoline. police also investigating a connection with a porsche 911 seen before the fire. yesterday afternoon found abandoned and burning in landon maryland. they think there's a connection amid all of those factors. however, they have yet to bring them together. they are hoping the release of this new information will indeed do that. folks in this neighborhood are, of course worried about this. they are wo

news 4's derek ward is live on benning road in northeast with more on this. derrickod morning. >> good morning, we are at 26th and benning. this is the langston area. take a look. what you see behind me here is momentum. this is how far they're getting with this streetcar plan. this will be the car barn. you can see there's a temporary building up now that's already housing a couple streetcars on the property. but clear to the other end on third street northeast there's another effort under way and while this streetcar system is about changing the way people get around in d.c., the effort is about changing the way they think about getting around. the d.c. streetcars are coming. maybe not at the pace many expected but with much of the infrastructure in place and test runs under way, the d.c. department of transportation is launching another effort this time to build inroads into the collective psyche of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians along the h-street corridor. it's a share the road campaign stressing good old common sense rules like not crossing in front of a m

news 4's derrick ward live in baltimore now. so far darrick, what is the mood like out where you are? >> well, you know, there is a sense that this city is already started to heal. people want the curfew lifted. they are asking the governor for that. instead, he's responded to those pleas with what we're going to see later, statewide day of healing and prayer. this process started. talk about curfew violations and arrests. that one to be expected. handful of arrests compared to people out on the street. the governor has actually chosen this church because it has a tradition here on the west side of ministering to this community. as we said, the day after the actual riots last month, the archbishop came here. from this church they walked this neighborhood. we hear this message from the governor today that the world is watching. that's interesting because you hear that coming from the highest office in maryland and you also hear it when you talk to people in this neighborhood, you hear a similar message. >> the world is watching.

new charging documents revealed wint likely had help. >> derrick ward is live at the crime scene with more on who and where the accomplices might be. >> reporter: good morning. some of those clues could be in the house here. that's part of the reason this remains a crime scene here. of course it is clear from the court appearance of the first person arrested in connection with this case that police are indeed looking for others. it's spelled out in the documents that says this crime requires the presence of more than one person. daron wint is the only named suspect at this point. he was arrested thursday one week after the crime and evidence found in this house actually an uneaten slice of pizza with dna tied him to the crime. he was arrested again on thursday as he and a group of other people were leaving prince george's county for the district. police had them under surveillance for some time. when it did, a woman who was arrested with them said that she had purchased money orders at the behest of yet another person who had supplied the cash. those people that were taken into custod

as far as we know now, the last big news was a cadaver dog alerted on a debris pile here. you're live at foggy bottom. derrick ward> at noon marchers in baltimore will begin marching towards city hall. last night police arrested 15 protesters for violating the curfew. police say they are no longer on tactical alert but the curfew will stay in effect through the weekend. yesterday the state's attorney announced it was a homicide. all six police officers involved in this death are facing criminal charges. take a look at their shots. officer caesar goodesongoodson, he was driving the police van that carried gray when he suffered a spinal injury. three others are charged with involuntary manslaughter. the two on the top are charged with assault. all six officers bonded out of jail last night. >>> police chased and detained freddie gray nearly three weeks ago in baltimore and once detained officers did find a knife clipped inside his pants. it is a knife that was legal to carry. based on that evidence the states attorney says they should not have placed gray under arrest. once he was arrested officers failed to keep hi

news, chicago. >>> 5:18. it is memorial day in washington and here that means thousands will honor our fallen service members at the national memorial day parade downtown. news4's derrick ward is live along the national mall with a look at what we can expect today. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, aaron. well, the sun will be rising on some preparations for that. it's a contemplative day here the national memorial day parade. and you know this one in this incarnation is only going on since 2005. it's put on by the american veterans center. and it's billed as the nation's largest memorial day parade. this year, it will be special observances at the 70th anniversary of v.e. day. some grand marshals will be -- dozens of world war ii veterans representing the millions who served and the some 200,000 who died. actors gary sinese and joe mantegna will be taking part and the band smashing will be here and caleb johnson of "american idol" fame and of course miss america. this parade goes between 7th and 17th street. you're advised to take metro down. the trains will be -- they'll be spacing between the trains but free parking and off peak fares. some closures have gone into
