let's take a closer look at that des moines register polling.'s unfavorable rating is at 18%. 1% are unsure about trump. desantis, unfavorable, 6%. 20% say they're unsure about desantis. could that leave an opening for desantis or for others? >> yeah, jose. you look at ron desantis' numbers as he's stepping into iowa today. it shows him with a sky high favorability rating. very few iowa republicans who view him unfavorably. in with some room to grow. but jose, it's also worth noting the higher you go, sometimes the quicker the fall. when we end up getting into a very mature presidential race, and if ron desantis does enter it, with all of the ads flowing, with all of the attacks back and forth, high numbers typically end up going down. and the way that i actually look at this poll and as well as other national polls that have come out on the republican race is this is a contest at this very early juncture where you have two front-runners. the former president donald trump and ron desantis, and then it's everyone else. it's important to know it i

morning talking about before we get into the regulatory stuff, you were telling me that you were in des moines this past weekend. what are people telling you about how they are feeling about the economy, feeling about running their businesses? sen. ernst: it is wonderful. i love being in iowa. every year i do a river from river tour where i visit all of our 99 counties every year. as a part of my small business committee this year, we are awarding small business of the week and every one of our 99 counties. i get to hear from small business owners. the incredible leaders all the time. what i hear right now, there are a couple of issues that are concerning. one is inflation. i know all of our small businesses are really feeling that crush of inflation right now. i also hear a lot about overregulation. there are a lot of small businesses that cannot seem to keep up with the regulation that the federal government throws at them all the time and they don't have the expertise in certain areas to manage those regulations. so they are feeling the crush from all angles. we have got to find out how to

>> we did some polling at the des moines register that looked at how early the field is thought aboute are seeing is an erosion of support for donald trump. we asked people how likely they would be to vote for him if the general election were today and he were the nominee, and we saw that 69% of the iowans would vote for him. that is down 22%, and the favorability ratings from fallen from 88% to 69%, and so there are still a chunk of iowans who think highly for him, and they would caucus for him, and vote for him, but we are seeing it fall away, and i can tell you that anecdotally, they want to hear from other folk. they want to hear from mike pence. they want to hear from nikki haley. they want to hear from mike pence. he visited this past weekend, and he had large crowds. he has a lot of the same policies with donald trump, but less baggage. >> we are hearing that a lot. in this country, a lot of politics, and the politicking that happens, a lot can move forward and tied to money, because they need the donor support. what are you hearing from the folks that you are talking to on the
