what is desantis trying to accomplish here?point, is getting his face on conservative media or voice, is that the point? what is it? >> i think that is the point. this is a political stunt. but he's also trying to make a point. there is a real problem at the southern border. i'm not saying so much in florida but certainly in texas and the other border states with mexico. i believe federal agents have apprehended nearly 2 million people this year. >> charlie, can i jump in here. i think you make a very good point. no one should deny there's an issue at the southern border. the question is, how do you fix it? is this the right way to fix it. i'm all about -- and i spoke to congressman allred last night. there should be a shared burden. it shouldn't just be the states on the southern border who are dealing with this. but what is the right way to fix this rather than making this a political point or ploy or scheme or scam that they're doing? >> what i would do if i were president biden right now, i would keen a meeting and bring in

governor ron desantis and others, you say, violated constitutional laws.ther laws by transporting your clients to martha's vineyard. what specific laws did he break? >> well, there are many, unfortunately. the federal constitution to begin with that has protections against illegal seizure, against deprivation of liberty, protections for due process and equal protection. the federal constitution also makes immigration a federal matter, and so there's state interference in an area that's under exclusive federal control. so there were many different laws that were broken by this inducement, this misrepresentation, and this essentially fraud and deceit that was preyed upon our clients. >> as you know, this goes beyond what happened to your clients. there's been many thousands of migrants who've been bussed to border states to sanctuary cities, basically from republican border states to democratic sanctuary cities in the north, new york, chicago, and now of course martha's vineyard. now, our rosa flores talked to a few of them who gladly took the rides, not tal

steve, governor desantis has big political ambitions. every move he makes seems to be carefully calculated and thought out. what does he gain from this. >> reporter: this wasn't something he hatched overnight but has been quite publicly plotting this in the public eye for months now. he has threatened to ship migrants to anywhere that might give democrats harbor and martha's vineyard and even said the president's home state of delaware. so policywise this is something he has said for awhile. politically this checks a lot of boxes for him. it gets his base really excited. it's an issue they care about. it causes a lot of anguish and outrage among democrats which scores a lot of points in today's republican party. and, you know, it gets media coverage. that is a formula he has used time and time again to get at the forefront of these issues that are most animating gop voters. >> so some gop voters in florida are venezuelan americans. that's kind of like a growing force in florida politics as i don't need to tell you. a lot of these migrant

, is controlled by desantis. reading of the reports, and talking to the reporters for migrants, they appear to have hired other folks on the ground, we don't know who they are, in san antonio, to go recruit various migrants. somewhere, apparently, found homeless, or living in a parking lot near mcdonald's, or an alleyway near mcdonald's. they gave folks food vouchers, they gave them a place to stay, they said, you are going somewhere great, martha's vineyard, or the boston area, we are not clear on what exactly was promised an,. the rest is history. that was the wednesday before last. then, this tuesday, they were trying to do the same thing. miami herald, did a good job reporting, the night before, the morning of the flight that, was planned for delaware, that got canceled. yet, desantis folks did not tell the rest of the press, on tuesday, desantis, when asked, are you guys flying to delaware he said, i cannot confirm that. by then, he will knew, it had been canceled. as i reported, later that evening, some fol

it has not been honored by the desantis administration. many counties meaning counties would probably have to sue -- there's been a problem of stonewalling by desantis's administration. but if you also look at at it from the perspective, the more this is talked about in desantis world, the more they think they are winning on it. and maybe they are, right maybe they're wrong. but it is sitting on a huge problem. and if you look at the polling, immigration generally favors republicans when it comes to public opinion. so, as i said, it's too early now to really tell. we are in a polarized state, and a polarized society. so, i would wait to see on prognosticating of the exact effects. >> i will say, desantis is crowing about this on fox news, and as you said, republicans everywhere are saying that this is a great move by him. but the fact is, let's start with the facts -- vertol systems took its website down. do we think that's indicative of anything? they've been forthcoming with information as reporters have been asking for it? >> oh, gosh,

ron desantis did not. >> scott, i want you to get in here.s is using taxpayer dollars to send them from texas to martha's vineyard because he said many people that s krcross border end up in his state. >> they've been in texas identifying people trying to come to florida and offering them free transportation to sanctuary jurisdictions so they went from texas to florida to martha's vineyard. >> so scott, talk to me. how is it a good idea to take people from one state and send them to another when neither of those states are florida? why is he seeking them out and then getting involved in this? respond to what bar rkari said? >> i'll take your second part first. he's getting involved for two reasons. i heard from a lot of republicans squarely behind what desantis and abbott are doing. he's responding to a republican uprising trying to draw attention to the crisis that is the united states southern border. that's number one. two, there is clearly a political component. judging from what i heard today, he judged that correctly. responding to baka
