a destination city. a lot of people live here because of the unique interest that san francisco provides and the entertainment industry and including restaurants provide a lot of that that make living here a joy for so many of us. and people say, what a wonderfully successful restaurant they must be making a lot of money. there is this image that somebody is benefitting at the other end of this commercial restaurant thing. i have to tell you knowing many in the commercial restaurant industry it's a very difficult to make a living if you are the owner or manager. more than think of from 24r point of voy restaurants provide a tremendous benefit to the city. there are a lot of people that have jobs in restaurants. suppliers and contractors have impacts throughout the city. we have to understand that restaurants provide social well being for the city. an economic base, this is an important thing and the department of building and inspection i do our very best to resolve restaurant issues. so that we can move

city. this is the second of our crosstown routes.th the bay trail connecting to all kinds of destinations across the city. add to that our third route making some key connections for neighborhoods in the southern part of the city and right now do not have good access to downtown by bike. this would again be a continuous, separated route following san jose, valencia, all the way to polk park. a priority network of bicycles. this goes back to when david was showing us about the netherlands, starting to build an interstate for bikes, so to speak. a network that everyone will know will get them to their destination, is comfortable the whole way. even a few years more into the future, we see that network being augmented to neighborhood connections throughout the city, resulting in a complete network. a total of 128 miles of bikeway. we believe this is what it would take to get 20% of people using their bicycle as a healthy, and economic way to get around the city. what it will take in terms of an investment -- this would be a significant investment for the city. it would be about $100 million to buil
