kpix 5's devin fehely will be tracking this race for us. he joins us live with more on this crowded field. devin? >> reporter: yeah, i'm at the registrar of voters. we still have a few hours left. and people are showing up to vote in person or to drop off their ballots. as you mention, there is a total of seven candidates in this race. four of them are established politicians. three of them, as you mention on the city council. one on the board of supervisors. and that quartet, those four candidates are generally and broadly considered to be the front-runners in this race. now the most experienced of all of them is santa clara county supervisor cindy chavez. she has served both on the city council and more recently on the santa clara county board of supervisors. we caught up with her this morning as she was cashing her ballot. she thinks that she can use all of her years of government service, all of that experience as leverage and get things done as mayor. >> it is such an important city. it's such a dynamic city. and being able to clean it
