but the race for rnc chair between incumbent ronna mcdaniel and challenger harmeet dhillon, a lawyer and rnc member, is revealing deeper divisions in the gop as republicans hope to build a winning strategy for the 2024 campaign. erik iverson is a republican strategist and the former chair of the montana republican party. i want to talk about this rnc chair race. ronna mcdaniel seems to have the votes she needs but of course nothing is done until the vote which is tomorrow. but there are clear divisions playing out in the open here. what does this battle say to you? what is it all about? erik: thanks for having me. these races tend to take care of themselves. we will know by tomorrow who the new chair is. for me, what is more important is what they are going to do. the new chair of the republican party needs to do two things off the bat. we have to fix this hard money gap between canada's. we had some of our u.s. senate candidates in 2022 being outspent three to one. that has to get fixed if republicans are going to compete. the second thing the chair needs to do no matter who it is a

he complimented harmeet dhillon. harmeet dhillon later said to reporters, she doesn't think this constitute as an endorsement but if you go to her campaign paid for rnc chair, that video is featured prominently on there. we will see whether or not there is enough for a last-minute boost, her campaign website in the days just before the interview had suggested she had 29 official endorsements from parties chairs and rnc committee members on a website. it says that the partial list but we will see if it shakes up the dynamic today. >> host: after this vote takes place, what happens within the rnc? how do they move forward and ins fight? will it have lasting impact? >> guest: that's a great question. in terms of moving forward, i think that this is sort of an example of the intraparty divisions were saying on display among republicans. just a few weeks ago we saw 15 votes a in the house just to voe on and elect a house speaker. the house speaker, mccarthy, was eventually elected. we saw this intraparty division and thes
