>> no, this is all about the legacy of diana. diana was hugely popular here in the united states.did things that americans felt were hugely significant, like holding babies who had contracted a.i.d.s., like doing things with people who had been injured by land mines and lost limbs. she was also an internationalist. i think the american population particularly grew to like her. even when they read about her difficulties, it only increased their affection for a woman who seemed to have so many confrontations and obstacles and came through them. so i think this attention is a direct result of diana's legacy. of course, it's incarnated in her son william because he, in so many ways, is like his mother. he, hills, is aligned with a charity for homeless people in central london. himself and his brother have an organization that serves the victims of war injuries. these are people who have directly learned that kind of connection with common humanity from their mother. i honestly believe that the american reaction is directly related to diana's legacy, her work here, her visits here. she
