eyewitness news reporter diana rocco is live on the scene in noho. diana? >> reporter: good morning. the k-9s are looking for evidence and the victim, the man you were talking about is recovering in the hospital. he is listed in stable condition. a live look at the scene this hour. the bleecker street station is closed while police continue their investigation. this happened on the 6 train platform about 3:30 this morning. we learned that a passerby saw the man bleeding, the victim. they saw him bleeding and called 911 rendering aid until police arrived. there was a dispute or argument on the platform at the bleecker street station. the man was slashed in the deck and hand. he remains in table condition. no word on the suspect. police say the suspect fled the scene after the incident. this is the second slashing at last couple of months. in january an elderly woman was slashed on the d train while she was heading to work. it was during the morning her attacker also fled. police are interviewing the victim. he is in stable condition at bellevue. the six trai

diana. >>> new this morning, at least 20 people have been hurt after a bus carrying bronx college students overturned upstate. it happened in minerva, about 75 miles north of albany in the adirondacks. this is new video from the scenes. the charter bus was carrying student from suny maritime back to campus. it went off the side of a road late yesterday morning. all of the injuries are, thank goodness, considered minor. state police think icy conditions definitely caused the crash. >>> police are looking for a gang of thieves who robbed hundreds of dollars from a deliveryman in hamilton heights. police at the 30th precinct say the thieves got close to $300. they cornered the victim in an that he was delivering. two of the suspects are young men ages 18 to 20 maybe. the third suspect is a young woman who was dressed in a gray hoodie and was wearing dark jeans. >>> time is 6:04. a saturday night birthday bash nearly turned into a bashing for a bar owner targeted by a violent gang of teenagers.

eyewitness news reporter diana rocco is live for us at the scene. diana. >>reporter: michelle and ken, good morning. that 26-year-old victim was slashed in the head when he did not want to give up his backpack. his two attackers are still on the run this morning. police are looking for them as they investigate. the southbound side of the jefferson avenue train station has been closed for the last several hours. here's what we know. morning the southbound 2 train was pulling into the jefferson avenue station when the two men approached the victim and demanded his back pack. they then slashed the man in the head. the two men took off on foot with the backpack while the victim was taken to lincoln hospital where he remains in stable condition this morning. crime statistics show that slashings and stabbings are up about 20% citywide this year over last, and the police commissioner says they are aware of that, and they are handling it. >> slashings are not going away. we live in new york city. them. what we're attempting to do, however, is one of the few crimes

diana rocco is live on the scene in medford. diana? >> reporter: ken and lori, good morning. a dozen residents are homeless this morning. this is what is left of one of the units here. it went up quickly overnight. firefighters just returned to the scene to put out hot spots. one of the buildings in this complex has been completely destroyed. that fire quickly spread to another. this is how high and intense the flames got overnight. the fire started after midnight on the second floor of one of these units in the blue ridge condominiums. the flames grew quickly it took about two hours to put out by the time they were able to get control of one of the buildings. it quickly spread to another. they needed help from five other fire departments to get a hold of this. residents were evacuated standing and watching from the street. here is what the fire chief had to say a few moments ago. >> a heavy fire load activating mutual aid an then it went quickly to an exterior attack for our safety. >> reporter: was everyone able to get out. >> everyone got out safely prior to our arrival. >

eyewitness news reporter diana rocco live in east new york to see. diana. >>reporter: ken, good morning. parents in this east new york neighborhood do not feel their children are safe until this predator is caught. that little girl was just walking to school yesterday morning when he exposed himself and grabbed her. that's when she put up the fight of her life. this is surveillance video released by police of the man believed to be in his 20s. you can see him walking down the street moments before the attack. this all happened just after walking to school with her 12- year-old brother on the corner of pitkin avenue and elton street. it was a relatively busy time of the morning in this neighborhood and that's when the man approached them. he then exposed himself, grabbed the little girl and would not let her go. that's when witnesses say she started screaming and fought back. >> saying get off me, get off me. he was holding her and she was kicking and scratching. or she was -- the baby was -- she was having like an epileptic fit. she was very, very scared. >

eyewitness news reporter diana rocco is live in the park with the details. diana. >>reporter: ken and lori, good morning. that all happened not too far from here, and this morning police are looking for a man believed to be that boy's father. he's described as about 35-year- olds with dark hair, clean shaven, last seen wearing a dark colored jacket, possibly a black jacket with a fur hood and blue jeans. the 11-year-old boy was wearing a lightweight red or orange jacket. now, police spent the better part of the night searching central park after a tourist walking through the park before midnight says he was approached by the man and an 11-year-old boy. this happened near bow bridge and west 74th street. the man who was believed to be the boy's father offered sex with the boy for $300. the tourist, a 50-year-old man from california quickly declined, left the park and called 911. but police did spend most of the night searching this park. that search turned up empty this morning. they will now be reviewing area surveillance cameras, hoping we're live in central park,

diana? >> reporter: we have been hearing the word tornado tossed around here this morning because of all the wild weather they had here last night. of course there's been no official determination about that. we're still feeling the effects of these high winds and i want to show you what the yard looks like in raritan new jersey. they heard a lot of wind last night. they were getting heavy rain. when they looked out the window, they saw their fence flying around in the air. you can see just what the heavy winds did to the backyard. it completely blew the fence apart. she tells me when they went to bed last night, the yard was in tact. within a few minutes of hearing the rain and high wind, this is what happened. take a look at the home next door. the shingles were completely blown off. the windows were blown off this house. about 5 homes in this area have been affected this morning. son was upstairs, watching tv when they heard heavy rain and high wind. he opened the door. he says the winds

eyewitness news reporter diana rocco is live now in the park for us. diana. >>reporter: lori and ken, good morning. this all happened on a walking trail not too far from here. a search of the park turned up empty overnight, but police are taking this very seriously this morning. police searched central park for the better part of the night last night after just before midnight a 50-year-old man from california said he was on a walking trail near bow bridge which is near west 74th street. he says a man came up to him with the 11-year-old an asked him if he wanted -- and asked with the boy for $300. it appears he was the boy's father. the tourist immediately said no and went back to his room and called 911, but he did give a description of the man to police. they are now looking for a man described as dark haired, about 35 years old, wearing a black jacket with a fur hood and blue jeans. the child was wearing a red and orange lightweight jacket. again, a search of the park overnight did not turn up the boy or this man that police are looking for. they are askin

diana rocco is live at the scene in clairmont. diana? >> reporter: ken and lori, good morning. it has been a really difficult morning here for family members and friends who tried to get to these girls, but could not, right after the fire broke out. old mother had left them home alone and unsupervised. there is a single candle that remains in front of this building for these two girls, and the windows are boarded here this morning. police say the girls were left completely home alone while their mother was at the laundromat across the street. the fire started at about 6:30 last night. fire investigators worked through the night trying to determine exactly what happened. smoke could be seen coming from the third floor of this building at the but lower houses on webster avenue. the 2-year-old and 18-month-old were inside the apartment. they could be heard crying and screaming for help. neighbors and family members were trying to get to them but were overcome by thick, black smoke. >> firefighters found a heavy fire condition and heavy smoke condition in the apartment, possibly in

diana rocco is live in medford. diana? >> reporter: ken and lori, more than a dozen people are homeless this morning. with the daylight, you can see how bad the damage is here. we spoke to people who were allowed back in their homes to grab a few of their belongings. take a look at how intense this was. before they knew it the entire building was engulfed. they only had time to grab their pets and leave before the building was engulfed in flames. this is the blue ridge condominium. this is what it looked like at the height of the fire. investigators say it started on the second floor in one of the units and quickly jumped to another building. when the fire department arrived, the flames were shooting through the roof. it took a few minutes to spread to the building next door. mutual aid was called from five other departments. at one point the flames were shooting dozens of feet high. six units were damaged this morning. some were allowed to go back in and collect belongings. for most it was a total loss. >> the dog was goi
