i'm diane dwier and thanks for joining four this special edition of "nbc bay area news." tonight police are investigating the death of a patient at a hospital in the east bay that happened during the nursing strike, and the hospital is now acknowledging that a medical error is to blame and that a replacement nurse was caring for the patient at the time. monty francis is in oakland tonight where a candlelight vigil ended a short time ago. >> the victim was a 66-year-old woman from oakland who was a cancer patient here, and she died after receiving what police say was a nonprescribed dosage of medication. the tragic event happened during a labor dispute involving nurses here. tonight some of the nurses held a candlelight vigil in honor of the parent that died and to ask the hospital to end the walk outon friday. the hospital has called in preplacement nurses, most of whom are from out of state. the replacement nurse admitted to her mistake, but they competent the economiance of all of the nurses. >> in mistake would not have occurred by anyone that, in my opinion, possesses
