california senator dianne feinstein has passed away. of 90 and joining us now is journalist and feinstein biographer, mark sandelow. this morning, i see you shaking your head there in our nation's capital. you had to anticipate that she was nearing the end of her political career. but this news comes at a time when we're really starting to look at her legacy. >> it does. i started working at the "san francisco chronicle" in 1986. which she was already the powerful mayor of san francisco. and i shake my head in part because actuallyly her biographer was m editor at the time jerry roberts and i still remember him sending me out in one of my early assignments, they needed a comment from her. she was at the opera house. like oh no. and i had to go and you know, she came out and she was sort of doing her little pretend fighting thing. she was both wonderful to me and she was also brutal at times. because she didn't like a number of the things that were written about her. but this is somebody who, you know, you think about california politics
