so some of you may know that my most recent ancestor, dick gregory. who don't, i direct you to youtube. just look up a couple of his speeches. you willyou do that, understand the fire that i come with. gregory sacrificed everything. he sacrificed millions before he even made them. and when he made them, he gave them up. sacrificed again as the first black comedian to break the color barrier. he willingly walked away to stand up and join his brother, dr. martin luther king. medgar evers. malcolm x, and the names go on and on. literally when he passed in august, he was still fighting to his dying breath. and so by growing up at the footsteps of seeing somebody who is willing to do everything and give everything to make this world better place, that is the spirit and the fire in the energy i come with. that we're in you istate of crisis right now, need to make sure that we understand that. look at our youth. suicide amongst our young people at an all-time high. depression, low self-esteem. racism,sexual assault, anti-immigrant -- and i'm just talking abo

and one of my least favorite things was the passing of dick gregory.on. he's really a remarkable, remarkable guy. i have to ask you about your tour. you guys are touring together. dave, you and i were in d.c. a couple years ago and you were kind of perplexed that andy cohen and i do a stage show together. what do you and john mayer do on stage together? how does that work? >> whoa. johnny, you want to take this one? >> yeah, it's not the loftiest of questions. i start out playing my music. i do about a half an hour. i hand it off to dave. he does about a half hour, 40 minutes of stand-up. he brings me back out. and we have what other people have described is a hangout. it's like a party. it's best described as being in a room at a house party where a couple people get together and they hang out and everyone has a great time. >> it's like a very expensive piano bar. >> right. >> it's great. it's called controlled danger. that's what it's all about, is riding the edge between what we're sure we know is going to work and what we're not sure is going to wo

huge amount of interest in this and for dick to will president a president who loves to catch journalists of current poorly for current or otherwise destructive. gregory courteney works what a popular daily newspaper usa today. he certainly seems to have a strategy of using controversy to amplify his message he likes picking about what the press he likes sort of getting in there and throwing punches that's always been his personality back to when he you know was just that was a new york real estate mogul it was his personality was the reality reality television star and now it's his personality as president and so yeah that's the sort of combative style that he has that we're all getting used to and you know actual people at the white house we we have three at usa today ok but that's three people and then this for the president can you keep up with them what if it means that we have to take shifts i mean that literally means that we have a reporter who is at work at five six o'clock in the morning waiting for him to to tweet off of the morning shows we have reporters you know working late at night to keep track. at all so that's part of it is just a l
