former clinton adviser dick morris is back. welcome back. >> good to be here. >> sean: 55% approval, how do you get him reelected? >> you don't. 27% of the people that voted for barack obama now do not approve of him. 13% actively disapprove of him. the statistics are more dramatic than that. the people were asked who approve of obama, what do you think of him? 34% of them said we are disappointed in him. but not yet to the level of disapproval. obviously, his disapproval is going to mount. his approval will drop. when you look in particular at his base vote, like latinos, two years ago he had an 85% approval among hispanics. now it is down to 44%. his rating among young people has dropped by the same order of magnitude. ratings among african-americans remain high. but, you are talking about a man whose potential for reelection is slipping away, as we speak. >> sean: we've been following the independent numbers closely. 27% of democrats not wanting to vote for him for reelection is astounding. i said let me make a comparison to

again. >> laura: joining us now from stanford, connecticut with analysis the purveyor of dick morris.com. mr. morris. dick, i'm watching this whole thing unfold. i saw that little smile can you recall on the -- curl on the edges of governor perry's mouth. i teed this up. the president hit it, and i love this moment. to me, he seemed like he was having fun. >> his goal has to be to get a rise out of obama and obama certainly helped his candidacy by attacking him. as you watch obama you wonder if he isn't more afraid of romney than anybody else -- let me on the substance say i agree with governor perry. the idea that because most of his comment was the calling of bernanke treasonous for money supply if he does it gone. i don't think it's treasonous but it's horrific. $1 trillion sitting unused in banks. 800 trillion sitting unused in corporations. people have paid down the debts by 400 billion. nobody is spending any money. nobody is investing. nobody is lending. printing another trillion isn't going to do a single thing except gee base the currency. >> laura: people like john and the "new york post"

joining us right now is dick morris, former advisor to president bill clinton and fox news contributor. great to see you, mr. morris. >> hey, juliet. good to be here. >> good to have you. the democrats made -- had a lot of fun with mitt romney talking about the mitt protection program and he's come out and he's had a lot of events and a lot of fund raisers. it's kind of been behind-the-scenes sort of stuff. when is he going to come out and see the mitt romney presidential candidate or have we? >> romney's advantage is he's been out there four years ago and the only one of the candidates running this year who actually run last time. and the result is people know him. he has a base of support. most polls have him ahead in the republican nomination. there was one poll right after perry came in which showed perry ahead but he'll probably fall back into the pack and romney will continue to be the leader. the key thing -- >> so perry you think is going to start to move back. why do you say that? >> well, he only moved up because he had just announced and it was a sudden thing and everybody w

joining us dick morris former adviser to president clinton. i wanted to talk to you. tell me the different strategy for the different candidates. let's start with governor perry. what is his path to victory to get that nomination? >> first of all it feels weird to be talking politics with this disaster unfolding. i hope the viewers forgive us. rick perry is fighting a two-front war. on the one hand he's opposing bachmann for votes of the evangelical religious right. on the other hand he's fighting romney for the votes of the club for growth economic conservative job creating people. those are very different constituencies. they overlap in their ideas. but as main voters they are different. what perry has got to do make inroads into bachmann's al conservative vote. not easy against a woman. and to make inroads into romney's fiscal conservative vote. his big test is he has gained enormously after announcing. probably artificially. when people actually see him performing for an hour and a half or two hours, three times during the month of september, they might have secon

our fox colleague dick morris literally told president clinton in '93 and '94 you can't go to martha's vineyard people don't like seeing you with the swells there. you need to go vacation in the american west. which he did for two years. i don't begrudge any president a vacation. having been inside the white house, i understand what kind of pressures they are under. they are allowed to go some place where they can relax for part of the day. i think you are right the idea of the wine-sipping elitist on martha's vineyard doesn't comport well with what ordinary americans are facing in their lives. >> greta: i think image really matters. does he really care? does he understand? i still can't get over the fact that he said i'm going to give the jobs report after i come back. rather than slipping it into the press office and letting him fax it out to tell everybody. then he goes to an elite place. i think that's a bad image. if i were running his pr, would want him to look like he didn't have a tin ear. >> the reason that he waited -- he's going to wait until september is because he doesn't
