siblings were hauled into custody wednesday night. 21-year-old ryan, 29-year-old lee and 26-year-old dillon will all be held on one and a quarter million dollar bonds. >> are they likely to stand trial here. >> reporter: the attorney for the former fugitives wouldn't comment outside the courthouse but in court papers lee dougherty reportedly told police we weren't trying to hurt anyone. police say the dougherty's fired at them with an ak47 wednesday during a 20-mile long high speed chase that ended in a crsh on this colorado interstate. these three state troopers led the pursuit. >> you are so focused on all these other things that it doesn't really seep into your mind too much that, you know, these guys are really trying to kill me. >> reporter: in a weak time the dougherty's allegedly robbed a bank at gun point in georgia and hours before that fired at a police officer in florida during a high speed chase in zeffer hills much the officer who had his tire shot out told reporters he is thankful the siblings are behind bars. >> i look forward it seeing these criminals receive the punishment

lookout for 21-year-old ryan dougherty, his 29-year-old sister lee, and their 26-year-old brother dillon since they fled from florida police last week. that's where their wild cross- country crime spree started. the trio are accused of firing at least 20 shots at an officer who tried to pull them over for speeding. three hours later they were spotted in georgia. police say they wore masks and robbed a bank at gunpoint. then the search shifted to colorado, where investigators got a tip that the doughertys' car was seen at a campgrounds. the manhunt was over hours later, similar to the same way it began. firing at officers during a high-speed chase, this time the trio crashing their car. a colorado news station reports the sister got out of the wreckage and started shooting. she was shot in the leg. one of her brothers took off running but all three were quickly taken into custody. >>> next, what has thieves targeting sprinklers in one part of the bay area? >> it's a miracle. >> it has miracle written all over it. there's no real other word for it. >> everyone thought he was dead. a young

fbi is going all-out in a manhint for this brother, sister, and half-brother, ryan edward doherty, dillon doherty, stanley and lee grace daugherty are wanted for the armed robbery of a south georgia bank and the attempted murder of a florida police officer. the next hour of the cnn newsroom starts right now. we begin with our top story. new information to tell you tonight about the worst loss of life for u.s. military since the afghan war began. nato troops are still assessing the crash site where a u.s. army helicopter apparently was shot down. 30 u.s. troops died in the crash, including 25 special forces. and we're now learning the ch-47 chinook helicopter was on a mission in the wardak province to reinforce army rangers pinned down in a fierce battle with the taliban. it bears repeating that military officials say their target was a taliban commander directly responsible for attacks on u.s. forces. here's what we're learning more about, as well. the man who died in that incident. one of them was navy s.e.a.l. aaron carson vaughn. he was 30 years old and the father of two small children

host: sam dillon from the "new york times" is our guest. the announcement about the child left behind? guest: they announced they would be responding with a program to be announced with great waivers -- waivers. the vast majority of states are now identifying the majority of the schools in each state as failing. that is a big problem educationally. they felt they had to respond. host: are the failing overall or in specific subjects? guest: the law requires testing every year in reading and math. it provides for a pass/fail school report card system. it requires all states and schools bring 100% of their students to proficiency by the 2014 deadline. the law worked in the early phases as a prod to get everybody in education focused on that goal. the goal was to bring up the reading and math scores. now what is happening is is identifying thousands of schools with you and i would not think our feeling -- are failing. they look good and the teachers are committed. they are described as failing. state officials have no way to identify to that ma

ryan edward doherty, and lee grace doherty, and dillon stanley, a half sibling of the other two. in custody right now. he told me that this began today as a high speed chase south of pueblo in colorado city, colorado. he said they spotted the three in a white vehicle, and made off after them. he says the vehicle took off and a high-speed chase ensued. it went 20 miles south on i-25 in colorado, and the vehicle crashed and one of the three got out on foot. i asked if any of them tried to flee, and he said he did not believe that they did. he is getting the reports from his officers. so this has apparently come to an end in an area south of pueblo, colorado. they went through a town in southern colorado, off i-25. he said some shots were fired during this high-speed chase, or at least during this prolonged incident this morning. he said that he has unconfirmed reports, unconfirmed that there is one person injured. it's not a law enforcement officer, and he says the injury, if there is an injury is not life threatening. these fugitives wanted in connection with the attempted murder
