hi, dion lim. >> reporter: eric, good evening. this is certainly not the news anyone wanted to hear. yesterday, the call went out on social media to look for there great grandmother and her two small great grand children, ages 4 and 5. today saturday afternoon, we're now standing in front of yellow police tape where investigators are sifting through what they tell me are bone fragments. while authorities have not confirmed their deaths, one officer tells me he is 99% certain based on evidence. family confirming the passing of 70-year-old mel dil bledsoe and her great grandchildren james and emily roberts. it is near chest which can estates. a gas main that runs through several homes ignited sending flames into the air as late as saturday afternoon. melody's husband ed went out to pick up supplies on thursday and he was turned away by police. his home was engulfed in flames. the sheriff zribds the conditions. >> the site after the fire burned through there was unsafe. there was a number of downed utility wires. there were still som

i'm dion lim. right away to the breaking news under way in the north bay right now, where firefighters are trying to rescue five people trapped on a beach by high tide. they've been stuck there for hours and the ordeal may soon be over. abc7's amanda del castillo joins us now with details. amanda? >> reporter: we know the rescue effort is happening a few miles west from where we are right now. marin county fire officials are working to remove five hikers who became trapped after a high tide hit around 7:18 tonight. marin county fire got the call around 9:00 p.m., that was nearly two hours later. the group is trapped just south of mure beach near the pirates' cove area. firefighters are waiting until the tide goes down to perform rescue operations, hopefully sometime before midnight. county fire was considering using a hoist to remove the trapped hikers, or jet skis with the help of the coast guard, but those were considered to be too risky. we were at the mure's beach parking lot, where we saw an a

i'm dion lim. >> i'm eric thomas. a live look outside know from our east bay hills.ady foggy and gloomy in some areas. let's get right to spencer christian. >> i hate to sound like a hedging forecaster, but it's iffy. the live doppler 7, the fog is beginning to develop along the coastline. it never cleared all the way today. get down to the forecast animation starting a little bit later this afternoon, the fog layer will deepen along the coastline, pushing through the golden gate and out over the bay as we approach 9:30, the scheduled time of this evening's fireworks. let's take a look at what conditions will be like at that time. 9:30 this evening we expect some fog moving through the golden gate, finger fog reaching across the bay toward oakland. that means the fog may obscure your view of the fireworks here in san francisco. it will be clear in the south bay and the east bay and the far north bay. temperatures at that hour, 56 to 59 degrees in most bay area locations. the fireworks displays away from san francisco should take place in good viewing conditions, but
