what i could do, and that's the way i moved to this very day. >> and one of the directors of "dionne warwicku worked with dionne for years. how did the idea of this documentary come about and how did you get her onboard with it? >> happy new year to you. i've known dionne for 21 years, started off as friends and morphed into business partners and somewhere along the line it became like family. i'm also the coauthor of dionne's auto biography book entitled "my life as i see it." that was written about ten years ago and that's when the idea first came to me in terms of the vision of a documentary. i'd be talking to dionne about the book and i'd say tell me about the first time you met president reagan. she'd say oh, my god, and then she'd say, hey, did i tell you the time i met with snoop dog and shug knight at my house. and i'd say, really, and she said 7:00 in the morning. so we finished the book and the book was published, and right at that point i made a praomise to myself i would figure out how to bring dionne's story to the big screen. and here we are. but it took five years once we star
