milos wheels won't make disability -- meals on wheels won't mace disability accommodations to deliverd i don't have a ramp because there's no law that requires my landlord to put one in. and i have asked meals on wheels to leave my groceries outside of the gate and they won't do it. i've had to talk with multiple supervisors and they still refuse, even if i sign a waiver to relin wish them of liability. and community living fund which is set up by the human services agency to support people in my situation and make sure that we stay out of institutions and off the streets are incredibly underfunded and understaffed. we only have one occupational therapist for over 50 clients and i have been waiting over six months to see them just to get wheelchair batteries. independent living resource center and senior disability action, likewise, they share the same deficits of services, very hard to get durable medical equipment. and also it's hard to get housing help from either of those organizations. and not only that but i can't even volunteer from my home to help other disabled people. which

in terms of seniors and people with disabilities. i think what's important to point out is that it is something that touches almost everybody. as you can see, every single department within our agency is working on access for seniors and people with disabilities, and this just shows you a few pictures of some of the things that are going on. in terms of my department, i'm part of taxi and accessible services, the accessible services division, and we have a number of components. just to start with our paratransit program, we provide door to door services for people with disabilities who are unable to use the muni system. and what i think is interesting there is 77% of those clients or customers that are using paratransit are seniors 65 or older, and in the category the that can't use the fixed route system. you can see there's some of the things that they do, both the contracting, the customer service, the eligibility process. we completed almost 800,000 trips, both in 2017 and again in 2018. many seniors especially really enjoy being

specifically seniors and people with disabilities. together with the vision zero coalition, we brought this accessibility issue to the livable streets division and we really appreciate their openness into working with us to find solutions to these issues. we organized a three hour charrette to explore new ways to design protective bike lanes that are safe and accessible for all pedestrians. we made it clear the issue was not about pedestrians versus cyclists. we were confident that safe bike lanes could work for people walking. we talked about universal design and how making a bike design that accommodate seniors and disabilities isn't about designing for a special interest group. is about building streets that work for everyone. it was a success. we had 50 attendees including oakland dot staff. some of the next steps that we will be working on is putting together a toolkit that outlines the design recommendations that came out of this charrette to provide any feedback to anyone interested all over the world. walk san francisco and th

so first, i'll start with the senior and disability work group. so this group forms in -- formed in 2016, and ad vocates from several departments came together and decided we needed to do something. it wasn't okay that two was killed. we knew that market was a high injury corridor. so we quickly formed this group, and we actually rallied together and made some changes. we were able to get leading pedestrian intervals on market street after we joined together. we got better turn restriction signage because we know on the safer market street project there are a lot of turn restrictions, and is it ae confusing -- and it's confusing, and we were also involved in the city driver training, so we've been getting a lot of good things accomplished together. the city has been putting in a lot of protected bike lanes, which is really good, but there are a lot of consequences, and so we got a group together to talk about this. basically, when you have protected bike lanes against the curb, you lose access to the curb, so folks who used to pull up to the curb
