the disneyland forward project is a multi-billion dollar plan to expand disneyland with land the companyalready owns. the agreement between disneyland and the city of anaheim was unanimously passed last night by the city council. the expansion plan will allow for development of new attractions, shops and restaurants with land under utilized by disneyland. the company plans to invest about $1.9 billion toward the project. the city's mayor says it will bring more opportunity to anaheim that this project will bring a benefit to our community, not just in the near future, but in decades to come. >> the success of disneyland forward provides a really important way for us to build affordable housing for us to invest in making our parks in every single district better. it gives us those resources for police and fire, and helps us improve infrastructure that we know we need to do better on. >> information from the walt disney company point to new attraction lands or rides based on black panther, frozen and coco potentially coming to disneyland because of this new investment, disney is the parent

disneyland is a step closer now to some major renovations early this morning. the actually yesterday morning, the anaheim city council unanimously approved a proposal for a $1.9 billion expansion plan that the proposal includes building a whole new park, as well as shops and restaurants. it's on the western side of the disney property, however, some residents of anaheim are strongly against the plan, which also calls for disney to buy several city streets for $40 million to expand the resort. >> corrupt, corrupt and just never ending hunger for disneyland. how much do you want? you have so much here you are. >> want to close off a street just because somebody paid and donated to every single one of your campaigns? let's bring a large portion of that investment here to anaheim. engaging new experiences and entertainment to loyal fans and new audiences. >> now the disneyland forward project would be the first major addition to the theme park since california adventure opened in 2001, and the proposal still needs to pass a second city council vote next month. the
